Don't order the Thai Beef Salad!
6 of us had lunch today, Friday, 22 September at the Bistro. Two of us had the Thai Beef Salad!
I have had this dish many times at other venues and enjoyed it.
While the beef was tender and tasty, the dressing was tasty and tangy, BUT, the plates were overfilled with snow pea sprouts and not much of anything else. Very disappointing. I spoke to the chef who was not too receptive of feedback. The others enjoyed their meal.

Food was very average across the whole table. Overpriced and overcooked steaks and dry lamb shoulder.
Offering table service would have been nice if there was actually service. Most staff seemed to barely be able to take an order. They just stood at the end of the table and expected us to yell at them. Wait, to order drinks was extremely long.
Would have prefered to just go to the bar.

First time at the new venue upstairs liked having table service. But was told new menu enjoy food ok have had nicer but order desert was not told it had to be cooked so after 30mins and still waiting mind you this was lunch time so the girl told me as I paid the bill with no dessert they blamed the new menu for its delay. I feel your staff Upstairs need a bit more training if I'm paying $80 for lunch 1 salad 1 battered fish and wine.

I've been watching this place change over the years; it's come up beautifully. Wasn't surprised to see a steady stream of custom, yet didn't have to wait for a seat.
Great food, and service was just as good.

We recently held a large event upstairs in the Lake St Terrace.
Meg and Hannah guided us with our planning and catering. The event was a huge success with lots of positive feedback from our guests. Great food, beverages and ambience. All the staff were extremely kind, happy, helpful and very attentive. Thankyou to Meg, Hannah and Jasmine and the rest of the staff on the day.
We will be certainly recommending this venue for events big or small and will be returning for meals.

Nice redevelopment. Bistro would be noisy and lacking in ambience. Upstairs dining nicer. Staff still in training bit friendly and trying their best not sure how much training is given to juniors these days. Food was very nice. Price a little above the ball park but manageable

If I could give 0 stars I would. Dined with a large group for dinner upstairs table service. I understand big groups can be a challenge but the whole evening was mishandled and ruined the evening for us. Only 1-2 waitresses for the whole of upstairs which is ridiculous for a Saturday night. Requested that we do individual bar tabs for everyone which meant all diners had to hand over their license and credit card to be held until the end of the dinner. All cards were held in a book by the waitress.. I understand there needs to be a way to monitor individual tabs but for privacy reasons this is not okay. Also out of 3 steak dishes the rump steak does not have the option to choose what side you would like. When asked if I could swap the chips and salad for vegetables I was told by the waitress "no you can't because the chef is particular". Another person in the group asked if the chips were gluten free. The waitress went to check and came back and said "no they aren't", when asked what she could order instead the waitress replied "I don't know". Some peoples drinks were "forgotten" and had to be re-asked what they ordered even though it was ordered through a tab. When I went to pay I handed over my tab card and was told to "tap for payment" I said "you have my credit card and ID" and the waitress said "oh sorry" and fumbled through the book until she found my cards. I feel incredibly uncomfortable that those two cards were out of my possession and was told at the start of the evening "this is the only way to pay". At the end of the evening walking downstairs to sit and have a cocktail, looking at the menu and the cocktails are at least $5 cheaper downstairs what a rip off. I thought that after the debacle of serving chicken schnitzels with potato salad and after many complaints they changed it back, that this pub is improving but unfortunately not. One of the worst experiences I've ever had and I will never ever return here.

Dined in the new upstairs restaurant for lunch on a Monday, table service a bonus. Staff attentive and friendly. Lamb shoulder with chats Dutch carrots and lentils. Meat very tender and not too much on the plate. Enjoyed the meal. Prices comparable for most hotel meals and drinks. $15 for 250ml glass of wine $5 for can of coke.

My meal was very good - Pepper Squid and Bruschetta. However my partner had the hamburger and it was not great - meat was too thick and no taste and burger difficult to eat. But - it was very busy and we didn't wait long at all for our food. Very busy and noisy and staff were disinterested at best. We will give it another go - my main comment would be for the staff to be a bit more hospitable and friendly perhaps.

Dinner with old friends and our first visit since reopening couldn't have gone better. We all enjoyed our meals (my rump was cooked perfectly!) The drinks were ice cold, the staff were friendly and attentive, and the meals were served in good time. My only bug-bear is the noise, a conversation was hard work with the acoustics as they are. But, overall an enjoyable evening.

This is a large modern venue with plenty of seating options for drinks or dinner. The food was amazing, plenty of seafood options. We shared a plate of oyster Natural and I had the Calamari entree. Both were so so good....
Good selection of beers and an extensive wine list. Big screen for the footy. What more could you want.

First time we've been here since the two-storey restaurant renovation, and WOW. We sat upstairs on the mezzanine level and we were thoroughly impressed by the friendly staff and quick service on a busy Saturday evening.

Food selection is varied and will suit many varied tastes - we had the Szechuan pepper squid and the pork belly, which was fresh and vibrant and perfectly presented. Highly recommend a visit here - especially upstairs but you will need to book ahead!

This hotel has been completely renovated and is stunning! The menu is the best I have seen in Newcastle/Lake Macquarie for some time. There are many choices and options to create your own meal. The duck leg red curry was delicious. Service is efficient, meals are good portions and a large parking area beside it. Will definitely visit again and again.

Just wanted schnitzel n chips, but had to have potato salad or pay extra $9 to swap to chips. $28 for schnitzel and chips is ridiculous and didn't even come with salad. Rest of food was ok but overpriced too.

I'd advise to be prepared to wait for a table if you're having food. We turned up here on a Friday around 12.30 and couldn't get a table. It was fairly busy but the tables downstairs were basically full and the new upstairs area was pretty much empty but you can't eat food up there for some strange reason. So, we had no real choice but to go somewhere else.

On a good note, the menu looked good.

Went there for dinner and a cheeky slap. Schnitzel was served with potato salad which was very surprising, I mean who plays around with the classic schnitty and chips? Atleast have an option to have it served with chips and salad. Had a chat with the manager Ben who was sensational! His customer service was brilliant and he really made me feel like a wanted guest. All in all a great experience (other than the weird cold potato salad) and I shall be returning again! Also pub looks great since the renovations.

The old hotel was great but I won't be visiting the new hotel again. It was nice to catch up for lunch with friends but I think I'll miss this place next time. Ordering the meal was a shamble, and when the meal arrived, it was just an expensive piece of steak with very little bit of potato salad. I wouldn't call it a meal.

Wasn't sure what to expect but ticked every box (except a pokie payout ?)for the best experience. Ben was a delight as was his friendly staff. Food was super quick for an unexpected Monday night influx and delicious. Keep up the great work ??'??

Bar staff are rude and don't know how to count correctly, tried to over charge, and were blatantly rude. Manger behind the bar doesn't seem to treat his staff members with respect and patience.

What an absolute discrace bar staff gets your order wrong after spending decent money on a lunch,
Brings the correct order back but argues when questioned over price diference as well as bar staff memeber arguing over manager, manager denies any mistakes or wrong doings and keeps the difference in the meal.......
Also fails to provide any cutlery for their patrons. Will never recommend.

Went there with the toddlers for dinner on a Tuesday, night a bit of renovations happening at the moment (August). The service was good, very friendly but the food was ordinary. Got the lasagne for the kids and for the ~$22 it was woeful (lots of hard undercooked pasta, not much sauce). The schnitzel was good and prawn topping on salad pretty good. We went to try it due to being in the Entertainment book.

Staff and facility were nice. But I would not recommend thchicken wings from the bistro to anyone. They were basically inedible. Doused in sauce which tasted wrong. I couldn't eat them, my partner ate them for me and then had terrible belly pain all night.

Delicious food, perfectly cooked squid. Wonderful service from all staff who interacted with us, especially Marcus who was kind and went above and beyond what was expected.
Highly recommend eating here.

Food was very nice but the staff need a lesson in their manners and respect .
They were quite outspoken in making their feelings felt when my friend and I decided to sit at a table that had not been cleaned on one end

Moved to the area 6 months ago & enjoyed lunch here on many occasions. Even lunch specials are generous portions, lovely to see fresh veg instead of the usual frozen ones generally served in pubs. The grilled barramundi is our favourite. Service is prompt, friendly & efficient. Our only complaint is the coffee, it's terrible, only ordered it twice on our first couple of visits, never again. Maybe something could be done about it?

Love coming down to Warners Bay Hotel, my wife and I haven't had a bad meal yet! The kitchen does a great job absolutely Devine each time, friendly service from the girls in the restaurant. They helped us out using the entertainment voucher today letting us know that we can also use it on drinks being a 25% off voucher from the book which was fantastic as all these years we never knew that! The restaurant was very busy and the bar was getting busy I believe from the ufc today but the food still came out in a timely matter,.10 out of 10 service

Food was a great size and very delicious. Drinks were a great price. I would highly recommend this place

My husband and I kept seeing a couple of dishes on there Facebook story that looked delicious so we had to try them for ourselves!
From Checking in at the front door, to the bar and waitstaff it was a wonderful experience all round. Will be back with friends

Had a lovely dinner experience over the two nights on Thursday and Friday night. (We loved it so much we went back for more on the Friday!)
Natalie managed to get a table for us as some bookings had already ate and had to leave for a show she said. All staff were fantastic. They have security on as well.
The front of house waitresses in the brassiere could tell they enjoy being at work- All very friendly, smiling, knowledgeable with the menu and great suggestions with food both nights. The blonde girl Not sure of her name who served us remembered my husband's beer from the Thursday night when He went to get one on the Friday. We had asked/ joked around with one of the sisters saying you girls should come work with my husband and I down in Sydney. (They unfortunately for us said no.)
We noticed that they all did a great job between clearing and cleaning the tables also the s&p which they keep behind the bar with covid, Friendly with us and other customers and to top it off the food was delicious and came out in a timely matter even though it was busy.
They have a Friday steak special which our steak was cooked perfectly.
They also have a great wine menu and delicious looking cocktails that they make in the main bar!
We will definitely be recommending to friends who come to Newcastle area. We will be back as well!

The food was an ample size, very tasty and well presented. The service was excellent, the staff were polite and friendly. A good selection of dishes and specials. Very popular venue.

Great food. Reasonable price and the Chicago snitty meal was great and very filling. Definitely go back. Shame the $13 lunch special isn't 7 days a week or even half the size of the dishes and price it according as their very filling. Highly recommend.

Classic pub! Friendly staff and patrons. Great food, excellent beer and cocktails! Also has basic accommodation. 3 til 6 happy hour is pretty neat. Cheers.

Food great, reasonable prices and friendly staff. Only downside was the tradesman making a racket for 20 minutes trying to fix the glass double doors just a few metres away from our table. Maybe after the lunch hour would have been a better idea.

Well located, very neat inside. Restaurant is excellent pub quality and a reasonable choice of beers. Staff all very pleasant.

What a beautiful location! Right near the beach and scenery is perfect. The staff were very friendly and helpful for my first stay and the rooms were very clean and tidy, comfortable accommodation. Thanks all the staff for their friendly service.
