We stopped at this place with the family for dinner and had a terrible experience. The food and service were pretty poor, here is why:
1. We had to clean our own table.
2. We waited over 50 minutes for our food. At least they could have given us a heads up.
3. The steak had the consistency of leather and had no flavour.
4. No steak knife with my steak, I had to go up and ask.
4. They left out the vegetables from
One of the meals, and had to go back to the kitchen and ask for it!
5. The salad had no dressing and they gave me attitude when I went up to ask for some.

They literally got nothing right.

Friendly, clean nicely fitted out local pub. Good classic well priced meal choices. $21 rump steak was a highlight. Good selection of cocktails and local craft beer on offer.
Dog friendly and there is a welcoming bowl of water for them in undercover outdoor area.

Just had the best rump steak there! Cooked so well you would think it was a scotch fillet! Well done guys compliments to the chef!???'???'???'???'???'???'???'?

We spent out first night in the Maskville hotel and we were served by a young man with a beard, he was lovely to chat to and knew what was good on the menu. A lovely place to go listen to the music playing, great service at the bar and great Massive sized meals. well worth a visit

First time going here and really enjoyed it, really liked the cheese burger fries. Nice offering of different seating areas, not a loud environment which I nice, nice menu options. Very pleasant place, would recommend.

We had lunch in the beer garden. Roadworks were going on just outside so it was noisy. Food was good. The garden just needs a bit more plants l think.
Staff were friendly and helpful.

Best pub in the area for a meal. Have been a few times and always received excellent, friendly service. Food has also been great on each occasion. Will definitely keep coming back.

When we arrived, we ordered and had to wait 1 hour and 20 minutes, and one of our orders was even cold, it was taken back and they fixed it within 10 minutes. But onto the positive, the food was good, chips for all of us were cold but the meat wasn't. I enjoyed it but it wasn't really worth the wait.

First time there with my Dad. Great place to have a meal and a drink. Relaxed atmosphere, Would go back anytime.

Place is great however bistro / restaurant was a fail. Over priced and miss leading. Spent $20 on a seafood basket for Eater Friday and had two small prawns, two fish bite and one small cocktail and handful chips. More of a kids meal. Speaking of kids meal, kids fish chips was one small flat head filliet double battered......next to no fish.

SO RUDE !! As soon as I walked in the bar man wearing glasses "Steve" started bellowing it was time to order food at the counter ASAP if you wanted it. Felt like I was being rushed out the door before I even had a chance to look at a menu! Head Chef just totally ignored us when we tried to greet him on our way past !! Total rudeness and worst customer service! The lady who owns it was rude to me the very last time I came here about showing Covid vaccination certificates but I thought I'd give it a second chance - a foul taste left in my mouth for the second time at the Macksville Hotel!

$20 rump,chips and salad with a choice of sauce or gravy. Best quality meat cooked to my liking of medium rare with a side of creamy garlic sauce, crunchy chips and a not to bad mostly cabbage based coleslaw with a vinaigrette dressing. I loved it and would recommend it. Country pubs RULE!

Fantastic service, amazing food, great atmosphere and the vibes are immaculate! Definitely the best place to eat and drink in Macksville.

Nice, clean and friendly pub in Macksville town centre. Lots of space including separate eating areas and beer garden. Want overly impressed with the food, had snapper and pizza, I think we would stick with standard pub food going forward. The burgers looked great at the table next to us.

Great Hotel good food friendly staff I love the atmosphere here this is one of my all time favourite hotels it has good food and great facilities a really good tab set up has keno has pool table and has been renovated very well is right in centre of town also has great facilities and accommodation,.???'??. Went to the hotel again and had lunch there with my family we all had good time , and the meals were all great . Good stuff ??'?

Bartenders are friendly and knowledgeable about their products, and the food is great! Definitely helped having a good pub nearby during the unintended stay at macksville

Food was cold I was standing at the front bar for 10 minutes while my food sat on the other side only to be told by staff that they diddnt get told food was there. Nachos went soggy chicken snitty and parmy were small for the price I wouldn't recommend going there for food,
I'd go down the road to bowraville pub....

We love going to the Macksville Hotel. The staff are always happy and helpful. The kitchen do an amazing job, all the meals are lovely.

Pretty disappointed today. Had a number of really good meals there in the past but today tried a new menu option; the vegetarian potato skins. For the price was expecting way more, & the skins were not "stuffed" with ingredients, it was more of a sprinkling, & no housemade tomato sauce, melted cheese or sour cream. They were also barely warm.

Classic pub meal.
The menu talked up the ribs and wings, was tasty and a good size however didn't exactly live up to the description .
The ribs fell off the bone. Well done.
Dessert if hokey pokey simple yet satisfying, if I come back through I'll return to try some more.

Waited well over an hour for the worst meal any of us have had in years. All three dishes were terrible - Barramundi had a weird texture and was inedible, salad was dry and tiny, slow cooked lamb was dry and tasteless.

Warm welcoming clean, gr8 affordable nice tasting food..will be back

The lady who was so helpful with somewhere to pull my bus up n suggested either Lamb Shank or the Beef Cheek Ragout.
Sorry, lovely lady, but after the bar staff n pitiful understanding of menu from other young lads..or even who you were..I did not return.
I went to the Lions Park pull up n ordered excellent Pizza, delivered, from across the road. THIS was 5 star service.
For a town now off the highway, with now no flow through passing traveller traffic, you pub did not sell itself well !!!

Sad on the outside but nice inside. Good food. Reasonably priced. Vegetarian but no vegan options. Modern beer garden. Cheerful staff. TAB and sports bar. Very comfortable lounge area. Good spot to stop for lunch.

Our third visit here and still not disappointed! Would highly recommend for a great feed and atmosphere for a family or friends night out.

Pleased that we read the reviews before deciding to go here for dinner. Had the ribs and wings, the Barra and the Schnitzel. All good quality and we left satisfied. Nice pub feel inside and a really great place to bring family and friends

Great place to go for a congenial meal & drinks with friends. Surprisingly high quality meals a cut above your average pub meal, for good prices. Very ambient atmosphere with choice of indoor and covered outdoor seating.

Friendly and relaxed local pub. First Thursday of the month is open mic night. Nice show of the local musicians.

Nice place to have coffee with my lady friends. Staff very friendly.

Absolutely worth going off the main drag to have lunch. The customer service was extremely friendly and chatty. The grilled bara was perfectly cooked and the meals were very enjoyable.

Food was fantastic and so reasonably priced. Highly recommend as an affordable place to take the family out to dinner. All staff members were friendly and helpful. Management seemed determined that all their patrons were having a great evening. Lots of friendly locals. Very busy the night we went, almost completely booked. So i recommend ringing ahead. We did go during covid however so many numbers were strict during the pandemic. Was great to see staff being diligent about patrons signing in.

Had dinner here on the way through - unbelievably cheap for a pub meal these days and the food was delicious! Amazing variety on the menu too. Staff were all extremely friendly, and it looks like the place has been recently renovated, and they've done a bloody good job of it. Will definitely pop in next time I'm passing through.
