Got here at 8.15pm and was told the kitchen was closed which is beyond ridiculous. Although judging by the other reviews that may have been a blessing. An hour later we felt very uncomfortable that the junior staff were packing/cleaning up around us and clearly wanted to knock off early for the night. Was harassed by the 'manager' Tara who bullied the remaining patrons to leave around 9.30pm. I was finishing my second glass of wine and was ordered to leave at 9.45 pm (before the advertised closing time of 10pm which Tara said 'was an estimate only' despite the what was written on the website). I would like to speak to the real manager as this experience and service is not commercially acceptable. Your amateur staff need customer service 101 training and I would like a refund on the wine that I was not allowed to finish. I do not recommend this establishment and will not return, obviously.

Autumn 2023...ditto, great food, extensive choice of beverages and quality food still abounds with the sounds of the beach close by and pounding surf a reminder of how well situated we are her at Maroubra Beach.

The Bay is a nice enough place and the service is very good. If you just want a drink, I would say it is probably the best place to go at Maroubra beach.
The food however is pretty mediocre these days. The prices are high for what they have on the menu and the food is not great at all. I am not sure when pubs became so poor at making pub food but this is one of those examples where the basics were not good.
Hopefully they'll get better at doing pub food again because I do like the place.

Great location right across the street from the beach. Great beach and ocean views.
Went for lunch with a mate and shared a serve of Buffalo Wings and chips on the outside deck.

Great local pub right in front of the beautiful Maroubra beach! Great food and environment. Had lunch on a Sunday and luckily, it wasn't crazy busy, we had a wonderful family time!

Don't come here if you plan on having a drink on a Saturday night thinking they'll close at 12am as advertised. A friend and I got there at 8am last night, ordered food and drinks (below average food, espresso Martini tasted like coffee and water) and we ordered a coctail jug at 940pm, only to be hurried out of the venue by 10.15pm, having to try to skull our drinks along with other patrons. You can tell they didn't want to pay their staff until midnight. Headed to a better pub nearby

My meal included a 300g Black Angus Beef Rump, chips, and Brandy Peppercorn Sauce. The protein was perfectly cooked. I then added an APPLE AND RHUBARB CRUMBLE on top. It was melt in your mouth & contained berry compote and vanilla bean ice cream. Delightful.
It's in a great location & it's spacious inside.

Solid pub food. Nice atmosphere. Petite parm is a good size for a meal, picture shows comparison with regular schnitty.

The location is great and the staff friendly. We ordered and got our meals in about 20 minutes so quite good for a Saturday night. The salmon meal was quite good. The S&P squid and beef panini were OK. But the grilled haloumi was very salty and cooked to death. I told the waiter to give them a chance to tell the chef but I didn't hear back. It's a bit over priced.

Great food. Great drinks. Bit of a family/friends affair. Ie they don't do much in the way of mingling with strangers. And a bit quiet after 830pm.

We just wanted a good meal on a rainy evening... Didn't want to cook.
The Bay Hotel was the perfect tonic.
My partner had the "roast" special and I had the tacos special. We enjoyed both with a glass of red.

Great pub, excellent place to kick back and have beers after comming off the the beach.

Highly recommend the duck spring rolls and squid.

One of our favourite places to eat. It's always a pleasure to eat a good meal by the beach. The staff are always nice too. Good vibes all round. ???

Comfy with ocean view and splendid Maroubra Beach in your face including salt surf aroma. Did not dine just enjoyed a few Sav Blancs and affordable. Staff attentive polite.

Sensational pub feed in a relaxed setting. The only thing better than the food is the service - cannot fault the entire experience!

A warm autumn night, with COViD scars lingering, a party of 9 and our cavoodle coated the Bay Hotel Dinner.

Security - they were some but blended in well - or should say friendly hotel staff, helped us to put tables together for our large party and lit up the gas lamps to make us feel welcomed. And, they also reminded us to QR us for COViD safety.

Food selection has always been fabulous, with tempting entrees, pasta, steak, fish and of course their well know chicken parmigiana with well considered toppings. Serving is well portioned and generous.

Drinks were well priced for a pub and the girls loved the house Rose - surprised them when I said "house" and not "French" per staff that serviced me.

Too full for yummy deserts on offer for the teenagers and young adults! Certainly be back and recommend you try and love it like we did!

We took the family here to try it out for a birthday dinner . I was pleasantly surprised at the atmosphere & the updated private diner area away from the bar . The food was amazing good sized meals steak and parmigiana tasty and cooked to perfection . The kitchen seems to be well organized and food comes out quickly . A little more pricey than the average pub meal but an extra bonus is The Bay is straight across from Maroubra Beach & makes a great night out !

I placed my order for three beers. While I was served, the ladies from the bar were judging my voice and making fun of it. Guess what, I could hear them. I don't think it's appropriate to judge your clients or anyone's voice. I cannot change it but I should still be able to have a beer without offense/judgement/criticism towards me. Very unprofessional, very disrespectful and impolite. Definitely not ok.

Live band on Sunday played from 640 till 845. I mean Pete was awesome but times were weird. Garlic bread was good though.

Although Maroubra Beach is smaller and far less well known than Bondi, it still has great surf. The Bay Hotel is directly opposite the beach and has great views. The building itself is a recently renovated local landmark.

The bar/pub has a good range of beers and its decor celebrates its surfing heritage. Food is good and reasonably priced. Service is friendly and attentive. Definitely first choice in this area.
