Worst customer service. The guy with the long hair, he has no regard for customers whatsoever. Has an arrogant attitude.
We are regular to this pub as we live locally. Today I went with my friend, and ordered a latte while at the machine. The guy said he can't serve us as we were not playing higher bet. I pressed 30c game, he still said "naa man it's not enough". This is literally the first time I have been rejected a drink while at a machine. Nevertheless, never going to return here. If you are just trying to have a fun poker time, DO NOT COME HERE. Only people with serious gambling problem are welcome here as this is the vibe I got from this place.

Dunno about accommodation. But the pub is trash. Dunno what's happened but just serving pizzas and no pub feed anymore. Would not recommend to anyone.

This is my seventh stay at this hotel over the last 3 years. My need to go into the CBD staying in 5 star hotels for my business is no longer required.
I have become more than comfortable & enjoy the lovely charm and lack of hustle Versus the stress and bustle of the CBD which can be harsh compared to the laid back village vibe of Strathfield.
This beautiful and Charming Heritage Hotel is120 years old in a great location and just 50 metres from the station.
Untold shops and great restaurants.
The Rooms are practical comfy and always spotless.
The second floor can be a challenge if you struggle with stairs as they are quite steep.
The Staff are above and beyond genuinely caring and always so helpful.
The vibe in the 3 bars is always friendly, inviting and in order. The beer garden is the star of the show for me. Under cover and quite 80% of the time. Great for catching up with my laptop , meals or a break from the room.

This Is all round a great hotel in a brilliant location with even better staff who go out of their way to help. Extremely rare in a budget hotel.
It's people who can make or break a business they have that part nailed.
normally I don't write reviews but this is an exception for me as it is ridiculously good value and has such a great vibe.
Please take on board the hotel is heritage and 120 years old. The floors creek a bit and the train station is opposite. One flight of stairs are a bit steep, and not every station on the tv worked.
Who cares show me a building 125 years old and you can pick faults with any thing if you're that way inclined.. highly recommend it.

My partner and I have lived in Strathfield for 2 years and we were locals at this pub. Not anymore as we had the most shocking experience with the security guard.

My fianc�, his friend and I were the only group in the pub at the time and we were talking about Korean history (in Korean) together. I am currently learning Korean so it's really helpful for me to listen to conversations and practice my Korean.

Suddenly the security guard came over and told my fianc� and his friend to leave. When we asked why he said in English "I don't know what you are saying to this lady but you are swearing at her and you need to leave."

I explained to him that this was my fianc� and that we were speaking in Korean, and that there was no problem. He suddenly left without apologising. The staff then came over to explain that he has been very sensitive lately so he is on edge. My partner and I questioned whether it was racism, as he blindly judged us when he didn't didn't know what we were saying and told us to leave.

It's such a shame because we really loved this pub and the staff, they are so lovely. But hiring security guards that are racist and too easily provoked is really bad for business. Sadly we will not be returning.

Great location good food 3? bars to buy your favourite beverage ? pokies sports bar separate space for smoking you have to see for yourself.

Even the manager came and say its the law, hey, if only 1 people staying playinh and wait for another person playing are still allowed.

The train station is across the road, so going anywhere in Sydney was so easy.

Without a doubt the worst hotel I've stayed at in Sydney so far. the rooms are absolutely sweltering with a window that is only able to open to a tiny slit, it stinks of cigarettes and mold. No bag storage for early check ins. The whole hotel seems like it hasn't been refurbished since it was built in the 1800s. Avoid at all costs. Just book a hostel or a more expensive hotel.

This pub is always good. A travellers pub for strathfield station. Nice and close for a schooner in-between trains and buses. Inside and the outdoor area are very nice.

Loved the uplift to the bar. It had been over a decade since I had been to the Strathfield hotel and I was pleasantly surprised. Friendly staff, a cool and shaded beer garden, decent pub feed (had the schnitzel with mash and vege - which tasted super fresh and was reasonably priced) and a comfortable clean dining area. I will make an effort to go back - especially as there's two pool tables that I didn't get to play with this visit. There's a smoking area and pokies area for those who want to know.

We went to bistro with our friends. We bought tap beers which is pricey comparing to other pubs. We all felt vomiting and terrible headachhe once we back to our home though we had just one beer. It seems like beer is expired from a long time. I was playing pokies . One of the staff showing bossy attitude was very rude and unprofessional. She seems like manager there. She doesn't have any good attitude towards customers . I was very very disappointed ?? with the attitude of that girl mostly work in pokies areas. They are not service oriented but just the money oriented towards customers. That's why don't wanna recommend anyone..

This local pub is an amazing place to go with families and friends. I have been there a couple of times with my friends for drink and dine. I had Scotch fillet, my friends had bacon& cheese burger and southern fried chicken burger. The cooking temperature was so precise. The food was absolutely delicious. The costumer service is the best amazing. I would strongly recommend others to go there and give a try authentic pub food.

We hold 2-3 reunions at this venue each year for different organisations. Always great service. Easy to access from all points in Sydney. Good food. Reasonable bar prices. Semi private atea. Ideal for daytime reunions.

The hotel is over a very loud bar that is not child friendly. Being that this building is old, all the sounds of the bar, the veranda and train station are easily heard until the morning hours. The windows bang when it's windy, there is no elevator and everything is old. Our "shower" was missing a glass panel and so the floor kept getting extremely wet. The television didn't work and the wifi was poor and unreliable. After traveling for 2 days straight, we had hoped to check-in a little bit early but weren't allowed to. A manager was not present at check-out time, so we left our keys with the bar attendant. I will never be back and would never recommend this hotel to anyone I like.

Booked a room for a night with my fianc� who was travelling down from Newcastle so we could see Kiss together. The bar service was good, bistro is a little pricey but acceptable, but man...the room we booked. There was a literal blood stain smeared on the wall next to the bed(I could literally see finger prints in it), my fianc� used to work in a morgue and confirmed it is 150% definitely blood, she estimated it looked like it had been there for about a week. I felt like I actually had to check the website to see if there was anything that said "we clean the hotel rooms". Even after having paid for the room, being very tired from the show, and it being 12am with 2hr wait till the next train we decided we would rather sit awake on an all stops train to Newcastle than stay in that room because if they couldn't even remove that off the wall we don't trust for a second that an inch of the room has any better integrity.
I don't wish to disparage the staff, I'm positive the large majority of them aren't responsible for a mess like this. But whoever was responsible for cleaning room 1 in prep for our stay on 26/8 should have a very, very serious talking to.

The staff were really nice and helpful. It's an old pub, and has been preserved pretty well. The decor is "outdated" (as I've seen other reviewers say), but I like that it has kept its original charm. No old building smell, and the linen provided is very clean.
Definitely not suitable for anyone unable to use many stairs or in a wheelchair, as the top floor is up four flights of stairs.
Overall, the cost was fair and provided all that is needed for a night or two stay.

Skip this hotel. Overpriced, dingy hostel! I booked a room for 3 nights for a guest. Got the most horrible review of the place. Badly lit corridor, no lift, not suitable for older people. The room is the size of a tiny bathroom. The shared toilet and bathroom was leaking water. My guest stood in 2 meters of water.Yuck! Really skip this place. Horrible experience. I complained to the hotel staff, but no reloution. I was asked to pay another $200 for a room upgrade. Why would I do that instead of just booking at a better and decent hotel.

Right next to the station. Super loud. No heating so super cold room. Showers mostly clean but old and weathered. Incredibly noisy guests till 2am, you can hear everything through the walls. Only saving grace are the staff and price of the single room. If you pay more you probably could get a room further from the main road and station, but the state of the place doesn't really justify spending more. Won't stay here again, but it was functional for a one night stop.

Korean food is fantastic as it is cooked with authentic Korean recipe. In addition all the staff working at the hotel are amazing. They are kind and professional.

The lady manager with short hair was awfully racist! Me and my friends were just having a good time and keeping to ourselves. We got kicked out for no reason. The place is nice but the lady manager with short hair has some personal issues she needs to sort out, and not take it out over customers that are trying to have a good time. Overall, I recommend this place IF SHE IS THERE NO MORE! BTW her name is LEONE! She does not deserve to be in a customer service industry. SHE IS EXTREMELY RUDE!!

Newly opened mamiumami bistro inside Whelan's pub offers a huge selection of classic bistro food and a great new korean food menu that'll blow your socks off. Been here twice already and everything I've ordered has been spectacular. Thanks so much to the friendly staff who explained all the food to me and cooked great meals for me.

Great pub with social distancing in place, all staff and security here are respectful, friendly and more than good for a chat, reasonably priced Carlton Blacks on tap - need I say more? Full marks from this happy patron.See ya for Origin round 3 tomorrow, atmosphere was great last week aside from the lads who have a hard time missing the floor in the restroom. Here's hoping you have better luck next time!
