Customer Review

This tourist park located on the south side of Canberra city is easy to access and offers a variety of accommodation and has a tavern onsite, which offers good meals at reasonable prices. If you don't feel like driving, there is a bus stop just a short walk from the park. Driving wise, it is just a short drive to the city centre, and freeways to the suburban centres and all the tourist sites to see. The staff are friendly and very helpful, grounds and amenities are maintained, and the park is mostly quiet with minor traffic noise at peak times. We have enjoyed our stay and will stay here again when we visit Canberra.

This caravan park is just adequate
We stayed here for a week during school holidays with our 2 grandchildren.
After searching the website we found
the room we had did not match the photos
Also the playground was most disappointing The equipment was old, faded & broken again it did not match the photos on the website. Nothing much to occupy children plus the laundry was very expensive for a family. It cost me to do 1 load of washing.
I would not recommend this park.

**Not Family-Friendly and Poorly Managed**

We booked a powered caravan site at Southside Village for three nights mid-week, hoping for a relaxing camping experience with our kids. We reserved our spot five months in advance to be next to friends, knowing it would be school holidays. However, upon arrival, we found someone else in our spot. It was evident that the park allows guests to switch sites at will, leading to a chaotic and disappointing experience.

Most sites had fake grass and space for an awning, but we were left with cramped spots between permanent residents' cabins, making it difficult to park and impossible to set up an awning. The manager arrived, blaming "entitled guests" and using unsavoury language, promising to resolve the issue but never did. Despite multiple calls, we never heard from him again.

We eventually moved to a slightly better spot after the previous occupants left, but the overall experience was marred by poor facilities. The toilet blocks had signs indicating broken hot water systems, and both amenities were run-down, dirty, and covered in mould and moss. The disabled toilets, which we used to bathe our children, were filled with autumn leaves throughout our stay.

This is not a place for families wanting to let their kids ride bikes and enjoy the camping vibe. We were deeply disappointed and won't be returning.

We stayed at Southside Village for 1 night as it is advertised as a "caravan park". We are travelling Australia and have never seen a caravan park like this. 90% of the residents are permanents and have left the cabins and accommodation in poor, filthy conditions, because of this the park didn't feel safe or comfortable. Would describe it as more of a run down trailer park. I would not bring kids here and I would recommend if you can possibly stay anywhere else to do so.

We stayed in the unpowered area with our caravan. There was heaps of space and we were able to connect to a water tap which was extremely convenient. We ate at the bistro twice - the food was excellent and well priced. The staff were super helpful and friendly.

The location is great but the rooms are very average. My main concern was the boom gates which operate only with the pass. This is an issue when you order a cab or taxi as they cant come pass the gate and same goes when they drop you off. Really inconsistent and was not happy with that. I had a room like 1km from the gate and had to walk all the time which is not great when its raining. Unless you have your own transport its not the best option. Staff was helpful and assisted me once when I need a cab to my room but after 6.00pm no service as they closed.
