We both had the Grilled Barramundi, 1 with chips and salad, and 1 with mash and veggies. Firstly, the fish was humongous and cooked to perfection ??'?. The mash and veggies were very hot and tasty. The chips were hot and crispy. Staff were very friendly. Will go again when travelling through Hay.

Great place for a beer to unwind if you are staying at Big 4 at Hay. The meals are superb. Best bangers and mash ever. The 2 old locals bantering at the bar were hilarious ?

We had dinner,drinks, used the jukebox and played pool at this awesome local pub. Ben the owner and Chloe staff member were very welcoming, funny and generous with their time. Food was also fantastic. Had fun patting the pub mascot also.

(Bistro review) waited an hour for entrees, bit disappointing to see others order after us and have left after dessert before we received any food. Garlic sauce on garlic prawns had no garlic and a total of five small prawns. 1 extra star because onion rings were actually good. Avoid if you are travelling as it made for a late night on an empty stomach of wine while you wait.

One of the best pub feeds I've ever had. Seriously good food- was only in Hay for the night and tried it out. Friendly locals, kids demolished their dinner, absolutely would recommend!!

South Hay Hotel is the place to be in Hay. The feed is excellent and the beer is cold.
If they say its a long wait for food, let me tell you it is worth every minute.

If you are looking for a meal in Hay you can't go past the South Hay Hotel. The food is excellent and good value. The mixed grill was amazing and the fried camembert was great.

Ordered food from the hotel for a Taxi Delivery for $10 extra. We were very tired after a 10 hour trip.

We're just here for the night but we saw the pub as we drove in. Country pub at its finest! We managed to get a table for dinner (we were lucky) and the meals were all excellent . The place was packed and atmosphere was great. Made to feel welcome and the staff were very accommodating making sure we were all enjoying our experience.

Ordered takeaway sirloin and a chicken parmi - both were excellent. Ben is a great host and makes you feel like it's your local, even though you're just passing through.

A gem of a regional pub! Great locals, friendly staff and awesomely delicious food. The reviews are spot on ...best pub, food and atmosphere in Hay.

We travel extensively around Australia and eat often at little pubs in rural areas. This one is a gem. The aesthetics of the building hide the quality of the food, drinks and friendship of the locals. Their food quality and taste is A1 and price point is spot on, as is their range of beers and wine. The hosts are attentive and the locals are nice folk. To we travelers - as with the rest of lovely Hay, please spend your urban $$$ here

We were thoroughly entertained by Ben and Maree who were funny and engaging .
It was great to hear hear about their journey to becoming the owners of this great little pub together.
We immediately loved the atmosphere and although we arrived on in a Sunday when the kitchen was closed we found dinner elsewhere but returned for after dinner drinks.
Truth be told I would still be there if my husband didn't telll me it was time to go???

Enjoyed a delicious meal here. Good selection of meals available at reasonable prices. We've dined here on a previous trip and returned because of the good food and great service. Can definitely recommend this pub for a meal and drinks. Well done to the proprietors!

Was looking forward to the warm chicken salad @ $22, the WORST salad i have ever gotten. Abit of lettuce, cucumber and capsicum with a chicken burger cut up on top. Waited along time and was very disappointed. Walked out still hungry! wont be back.
