Took at least 30mins to receive a garlic bread, sweet potato fries & Caesar salad. The Caesar salad had anchovies in their dressing and doesn't mention it anywhere on the menu. When we asked a waitress if there anchovies in the dish she said no, then we asked another if we can return the salad, this waitress and the chef were lovely enough to offer to make the same salad without the Caesar dressing as it as anchovies in it. I then tried mentioning to the waitress that there is no mention of fish being in the dish on the menu, only to have what I can assume is some kind of manager there actually try to argue with me that Caesar salad dressing without anchovies doesn't exist and I should know better. This same woman was rude from the second we walked in telling us there no tables left when we could clearly see three.
Won't be coming back, won't be recommending any of our holiday rental patrons visit here either. And I'd highly recommend this woman gets some customer service training or looks for a new career, because she is certainly not cut out for it!

Stayed in room 202 , cleaning needs to be a bit more thorough especially the carpet and bathroom, a couple of items found from previous guests. Room could also be set out better with a small table near the window would be handy . Carpark was also full with tradesman Ute's and was woken on thurs morning at 7am with a workman standing under our window on the phone swearing quite loudly !!

Meal was good fri night. Very disapointed re: seating for just having a quiet drink . Seems that area is now for poker machines . Not people friendly. Seems they just want you to eat your meal and move on. However there were only available seats in the dining area.

Can't order a whiskey neat at 8:30pm on a Friday. The whole place absolutely stinks of tobacco smoke probably ok if you have Covid and can't smell. What a horrible unfriendly environment.

We went there for lunch today and were bitterly disappointed, we were literally the only people in the dining room and ordered chicken schnitzel, well both schnitzel's were so over cooked that it was difficult to cut them, I use the word schnitzel loosely as it was a burnt piece of thick chicken ( similar to a Kiev) not flattened out like a normal schnitzel.
We were told that's how they do the schnitzel there and the batter they use looks like that ( burnt) it was burnt crumbs btw not battered.
We waited 40 minutes for this " meal"
The saving grace was the fact that because we took it back as it was inedible, we got our money back.

So disappointing as last time we went there is was ok.
It's a pity as a local we like to support local businesses, but not if they continue to offer bad food and service.

Once upon a time you could go to a pub and expect to receive a decent meal. After waiting 20 minutes for a burger and chips on Saturday lunchtime that wasn't even busy, I politely asked the waitstaff to check on our meals. 5 minutes later we received child sized burgers with only half a handful of cold chips on each plate. The manager, a middle aged woman proceeded to defend the child size burger and the time it took for the meals to arrive instead of trying to be understanding and diplomatic. We asked to have the cold chips replaced with a decent sized hot serving however they took so long, we decided to leave the venue where we could see the bowl still sitting on the chef's counter and the manager and waitstaff nowhere to be seen.
I would have been better off going to the Fish and Chip shop across the road. Better food, better value and better service.

Disappointing experience. We waited 50 minutes for a Schnitzel and Caesar Salad. The dining room was fairly empty so we weren't sure what caused the delay however when our meals did arrive the schnitzel was a burnt chicken breast and the salad was drowned in dressing. The meal was replace promptly with a salt and pepper squid which was much nicer. The Caesar was decent. The redeeming factor was the barman who was welcoming and friendly. Unlikely to return.

Good food. Was a little disappointed in my rump steak - tasted burnt but was otherwise lacking in flavour. The garlic prawns and vegetables that were part of the meal were excellent. Service was good - we turned up with no reservation and were seated immediately.

We have eaten here several times but last night we we're very disappointed. Certainly understanding that it was Easter Monday and maybe staff shortages were an issue but this was a poor visit. Firstly there were no Pizzas available because they ran out of pizza base. There was only one thing on the menu for a vegetarian - a salad. Other vegetarian items were unavailable so my guest had to eat a bowl of chips. The pasta dish was small( for the $24 being charged) and was lukewarm and without flavour. The seafood crepe was very ordinary and contained chewy octopus legs! Service was speedy. Too speedy. If you didn't have hold of your plate the staff would whip it off the table before you could blink. Hopefully this was a once off as we have had some lovely meals there before. But on this occasion, we were totally unimpressed,

Waited nearly two hours for our food. When we asked how much longer the wait would be, a staff member said "the girl on the pass said everyone is waiting". Clearly employee morale in this business is shocking. Once our meals finally came, the schnitzels were raw. Absolutely disgusted in the attitude of staff and quality of food at this establishment.

We had a 3 night stay at The Sea Breeze & overall our experience was great!
The rooms are reasonably priced, very clean. spacious, & quiet, with a comfy king bed & pillows, large bathroom with a deep soaking tub, Shower & twin basins. Rodney & Lisa (bar managers/staff) are so friendly & accommodating. Food was delicious also.

Your staff member Karly has the best customer service skills I have experienced in many many years. A friendly face in a welcoming environment what more can you ask for? We will most definitely be back.

We stopped in for one night with the fam whilst heading up the coast, and we feel we have found a hidden gem. Great food, staff, cocktails and beds were comfy. We will definitely be making a return trip. Thanks, Seabreeze Hotel!

My partner ordered the cod with chips and salad, had two bites and sadly had to return it back to the chef as it was full of bones and quite a weird consistency. Unfortunately that wasn't the worse part, as he came down with food poisoning a few hours later! Usually great but this was disappointing.

Have been there twice now over the last 4 years. It's a good pub with a good restaurant section offering nice food. Live entertainment is a bit hit and miss depending on who you get. CC and dry on tap is terrible. Overall ok and really nowhere else to go that is open late-ish.

The room was a touch on the small side but great for the price. It was very clean and comfortable. Staff were very friendly - not always at reception but it was easy to head to the bar/restaurant for assistance.

Today's lunch experience was terrible, no acknowledgement from staff while trying to be seated. Ordered a $27 eggplant parmigiana, 2 pieces of eggplant with sauce from a jar and some sort of unmelted cheese stuff on top with chips and salad.
I left the entire dish and walked out.

As a local I feel ripped off that this is how we showcase P.S to our visitors.

My previous post have been good, I'm not sure what has happened at the venue over the past few months but it is obvious it needs a good shake up before tourist seasons kicks off again.

Went here for Sunday dinner and it was excellent . Nothing was ever too much trouble! We had a steak arrive a little under how we'd ordered and liked and they were more than happy to fix it and cook it abit further , keeping us informed and making sure we were okay while we waited. All the staff were delightful to deal with and the meal and dessert were all delicious

We were there to see if it would be suitable for my daughters 40th birthday. It surpassed all expectations. Food and atmosphere was amazing ??'? we have booked for October and I just hope the same chefs and staff are still there. Best service and food I have ever received.

We came here for St. Patrick day. We want to try special for this day. We got few pints of Guinness that was right choice and taste good. However when come to meals we ordered Irish stew and guinness pie on special. What can I say the only special thing was that the meal has nothings in common with Irish food. Irish stew it was like a light soup with mash potato in the middle of 2 pieces of beef with strange taste. Guinness pie was average also nothing special in taste just simple gravy. Only good think in this dish could be steam veg if only they weren't cold.

We went here at a normal day and the food was good tho.

Thought this venue was great, there was a sign advising the staff shortage, they told us well in advance what was unavailable on the food menu as we sat down which was helpful. Kids portion sizes for meals were great coming with a scoop of ice cream after. I felt the staff were very accommodating to the kids which made the whole night a breeze. Our meals were also good portion sizes, tasted very fresh and good prices. The on tap beer selection was very reasonable too. I will come back!

Keep on driving to Shoal Bay is genuinely the best advice I could possibly give anyone even almost considering going to this place.
To the Owner/Admin - I'd be looking into a new Venue Manager too just quietly as you're current one doesn't garnish a Gin & Tonic with a slice of lime because "People are dumb."... ? Wow... just, wow.

I'll be back if I ever want a level of service equivalent to that of being spat in the face.

I've stayed here plenty of times and the rooms are fantastic. The food great but it's the atmosphere that I love the best in the outside drinking and smoking lounge aka beer garden. I know a few locals and it's always a good laugh. Close to everything and if you feel like a change in diet or restaurant there's a heap all around you and the marina is just over the road for the whale watching and harbour cruises with child friendly beaches in walking distance. I highly recommend this place when you're staying in Nelson Bay.

Had a 7 night stay at the Seabreeze Hotel, what a lovely experience it was. Very conveniently located, close to all the shops, restaurants and the marina.
Rooms were quite modern and comfortable. Only qualm was a bigger fridge would have been nice.
The staff I encountered were so lovely, Paulie and Tarnie were so cheerful and accommodating always more than helpful, smiling and polite.
Definitely worth the stay

Enjoyed the food gave it 3.5 stars. Service was fine.
But something about the dining room was missing. It lacked a spark.
Sports bar area looked nice. Will try Shoal Bay next. At the moment Cheeky Dog at Salamander is our pick.

Great experience here tonight. We came when it was very busy but staff managed to squeeze us in. Wait for food was very reasonable, particularly for a full restaurant. All food was YUM and definitely NOT just average pub food! Nice decor, friendly staff, full bellies.

Love coming here! Food is always exceptional and service is fast. We've been served by Harry a few times and he is brilliant, he had better get a pay rise!

We were here on the Easter weekend and very few restaurants were open so this place was packed. I wasn't expecting much but the seafood marinara was pretty good. The staff was unfazed by the busy condition and dealt with our request to change tables efficiently. Maybe a bit pricey for what it was but definitely a pleasant end to our dinner quest with two hungry kids in tow.

Great food, had the beef cheeks as it said it was their signature dish and it certainly didn't disappoint. My partner had the budha bowl with smoked salmon and was also very happy with both the portion size and taste of the meal. Would recommend and will return next time we are in town

Nice relaxing restaurant. Unfortunately our order was lost/forgotten but when brought to their attention, recovery was quick with free desert offered. We had beef cheeks and a steak of which were delicious oh, and plus desert! Service redemption was great! Would definately go back!

Great atmosphere and lots.of space away from the 'hotel' and 'bar' so you can really enjoy the restaurant and food. Extensive well priced menu with weekly specials offering great value meals. The dishes we had were delicious. The staff were friendly and efficient and made us feel welcome and comfortable.

Trendy, Hampton style interior with good selection of drinks and cocktails. However, the food service is incredibly slow. We waited over an hour on a moderately busy evening, but the food is good if youre willing to wait and pay. The meals are slightly on the pricey side.

We had dinner in the bistro which was a lovely atmosphere. Tried the vegan schnitzel and was blown away by how crispy and juicy it was! We had to confirm with the waitress that it was a vegan product as it was a perfect imitation chicken schnitzel.Love the quality vegan options, thanks so much team. We'll be back!

Hotel room was nice. Receptionist was indifferent and had no smile. Im actually stumped on why the best part of the pub was designated smoking area. Walking down the street into the pub was unappealing with the smell of smoke. Most pubs give all patrons respect to enjoy their experience. When the door opened to the front of the pub, mind you best views, I was inundated with awful gust of cigarette smoke whilst sitting inside with no views. If your after a nice pub go to Shoal Bay!

Little slow with service but understandable with the girls having to help check people in with covid beer good and good music

We stayed 2 nights, room was excellent, clean and bed was very comfortable. Great location close to all the shops, just a short walk to everything we wanted.Staff were diligent with Covid and registering everyone who entered, this was great as I am sole carer for my 90 year old mum.Definitely coming back
