Such a lovely view and a great staff and great food. However if you're looking for a place to dine, you'll need to put up with parents who don't parent and allow their kids to run around like they are in a basketball stadium in the restaurant. The poor staff are totally ignored when they ask the parents to stop their kids.
A fellow diner had to address the parents as it was that loud while, kids were screaming, running around playing tag, nobody could hear themselves speak.
This has happened every time I have come down for either lunch or dinner and as a local would prefer to drive a little bit further where kids don't rule the restaurant and parents teach their kids manners to dine.

It's nice to walk in and have the bar man know your name and what you drink. It has that feel that you are with friends.

Went in for a nice Sunday lunch, staff were super friendly, food was outstanding and the venue was well presented. 10/10 will definitely be coming back for more. Next time will try the cocktails

Took the family out for a dinner on a cold Thursday night with no booking. We were not disappointed. The food was excellent The staff were friendly and attentive. The atmosphere was great and we would love to come back. $160 for dinner for a family of 5 including steak and a full rack of ribs. Definitely worth it.

The location is fantastic and as our local pub it's a great venue to bring our friends to for a drink and a meal. As a vegetarian however I don't rate the food. More vegetarian options are needed on the menu for me to give a five star rating.

Have eaten here several times. The view is great. The menu is large with lots of options. Today we had the porterhouse steak and pumpkin curry. Both were enjoyable. The serving sizes are also generous. Def worth a visit.

The Sandy Pub Front Sports Bar is our beloved local pub and it is a truly a delightful experience each week, week in week out. The atmosphere, the overall local vibe of the place is top-notch, making it a favourite spot for the local community to gather and enjoy some quality time.

First and foremost, I must commend Mick and his Front Bar team (Pia, Max, Oscar, Lewis ets) for always creating such a warm and inviting environment. The Front Bar exudes a sense of camaraderie, respect and unity, which is exactly what you want from your local pub.

However, as much as I adore my pub, there's one aspect that could use some improvement. On busy days, it's clearly evident that Mick and the team are working tirelessly to ensure everyone is taken care of. While they do their best, it's clear that they could use some extra hands during peak hours to maintain the great level of service we've come to expect at our local. Time for the Area Manager to step up and fix.

In conclusion, The Sandy Front Sports Bar is an outstanding place that has won the hearts of the community. While it's truly a gem in our community, a bit more support and additional staff on busy days would ensure a better experience for staff and patrons alike.

Came here for a Parma Meal with my husband and it didn't disappoint. Food was great and the service was excellent. We got served by Catherine and she was a delight, we got served really quickly and overall the service was great. The chicken crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside and the chips were nice and crispy and not too salty. Will definitely be coming back for date night.

For the rooms, they are small with no space for putting your clothes if staying for a few days. The area is ok interms of restaurant or food shopping. The hotel is closed to a train station. The beds were too soft for my liking.

Visited this place for lunch on our way to half moon bay. Nice vibe, ample seating and clean area. The staff is friendly. They have a sufficient range of food options in the menu. Had a mushroom burger with added grilled chicken. Loved it. Generous portions for the price. The chicken bao buns were tasty too.

Ordered from table looking forward to the lobster but unavailable so ordered the chicken ceased worst I've had in my life egg wasn't even cooked properly no option to remove anchovies. Daughter had the pork ribs which she said were very fatty...won't be back.

This place exceeded my expectations. My Daughter and I ordered the Feasting Board to share. We were expecting to order more food after. By the time we had cleared the Board we were full. All food presented was very tasteful. Great value for money. The menu varied and atmosphere was as you would expect from a large pub.

Have come to the bistro here before, and every time it has been excellent. Although it was very busy this Easter break, the team were super friendly and the food was of exceptional quality.

The eating area's ambience is also modern and pleasant.

One of the best pub meals I've had in a while! Hubby and I walked in randomly for dinner on Easter Friday after a beach walk and were not disappointed! Absolutely demolished our plates of chicken parma and fish and chips. Excellently cooked fish, crispy chips, and super fast service using the online ordering system. We'll be back!

The food was excellent! The Southern Fried Chicken Burger was absolutely delicious! Very friendly staff also!

Had a wonderful lunch at the Sandy Hotel yesterday - friendly staff and great food. However was very disappointed that the outside tables for 4 people had been removed which didn't enable my wife and I to enjoy outside dinning, which we have done constantly for many Sundays and the reason which specifically make us visit the Sandy (all the way from Templestowe).

The staff were polite and friendly and the venue itself has a spectacular view, however, they have a very limited number of vegetarian options and the only one I found appealing they had run out of. When I asked for a bowl of chips, they said they couldn't sell me a bowl of chips and if I wanted chips I would need to order a kids meal (which is $4 more and would have to come with some form of meat). I understand there are shortages but the solution was quite illogical.

Excellent value! Spotless, comfy room, with no noise transfer from pub. Very comfy bed, generously stocked fridge and coffee area, and 10% off pub meals. Free off-street parking, water views (albeit over roof of bistro and its aircon outlets), and across the road from the beach. If you're OK with stairs, you cannot fault this hotel for value and friendly service!

Pre covid there was table service and experienced wait staff. Now order at bar and pleasant but very young wait staff. Food was very good but wines ? By the glass we tried 4 different ones. All poor. Couldn't finish any of them. Tank beer excellent. Good for young families (which comprised most of the clientele) but doubt we'll be back.

There seems to be ample parking beneath the venue. Order at the bar and they'll bring out the food to your table. They were very busy on a Thursday evening but the food came out pretty quickly after ordering at the till.

The best share plate we had was the sweet potato fries, crunchy with the perfect dip. We wanted seconds for the fries but already had so much food! We also enjoyed the calamari, which was seasoned well, soft all throughout. The Korean fried chicken was too salty for my taste however and I wouldn't have it again.

For mains, we had the bbq pork ribs, served with a large baked potato, coleslaw and grilled corn. Pork fell easily off the bone and the dish was delicious and filling overall. The seafood paella was surprisingly good, the rice was soft and full of flavour. We also had lobster and steak. The lobster was cooked well but it had a strange, old taste as though frozen for a long time. The steak tasted much better, quite tender at medium rare and bare except for salad and chips.

In all, the Sandy served up good food with impersonal but effective service, in a large and airy space, which was fit for a casual evening with friends. We certainly enjoyed the food, had very little interaction with staff, and had a spacious corner to ourselves for a long catch up.

The main meal was outstanding, even though we had to wait 45 minutes for our food to arrive. As we were there for a special occasion we decided to order some desserts to celebrate. After waiting for nearly an hour we gave up waiting as it was too late and we had young kids with us.

Very disappointing, as the main meal was delicious and we were all saying how we'd definitely go back, but now, not so sure.

Great combination accommodation meal and drink package. Quiet,comfortable room. Downside was the hot water was just above lukewarm. Definitely no need to add cold water to the hot in the shower. Would definitely stay again

It was my firs time here thanks to some trivia friends of mine and I was floored. The staff are so nice and smiles, it was also a busy night but their coordination and attention to service was impeccable. The food was divine, my eye fillet was exactly as I asked (Medium) and the prawns were so fresh I thought they were caught that day. Decent choice in alcohol and the overall atmosphere was electric in the Sports Bar. Definitely coming back

Beer on tap selection was great... menu carried a good variety with plenty of options for all tastes. Has the Southern Fried Chicken Berger... awesome.
The only negative was the tables didn't have everything you needed, so you ended up walking around finding salt/pepper and coasters etc from various tables.

Large portions, we had a parmy, slow cooked meat pie decent mash, peas and onion rings. Pumpkin curry, and southern fried burger all meals were well presented not bland over or under cooked nice plates. We are not locals but recommend it with a ocean view and great atmosphere what's not to like.

Great Bar with nice view from the balcony. The Furphys was only $7 a pint!!! Also, the steak was pretty good, the only downside was the waiter at the bar where we ordered our steak wasn't that friendly and hence the 4 stars.

I had an amazing tea. I like my steak med/well which in turn can make it quite tuff. But this wasn't the case it was the best steak I have ever had. Well done to the chef. I am staying the night and I am very very happy with the accommodation. Five star service and food.

Terrible service, came to our table after around 30 minutes and then took another 45 minutes for us to receive our food. The food was overall average, way too big and looked like dogs breakfast. I then wanted some dessert at around 2:30 and after several asks for a waiter, one finally came at 3:15 and were told that you can only order desserts before 3:00 after they didnt send a waiter for 45 minutes and their excuse was that they were under the pump. I will not be returning here because of this terrible experience.

Excellently priced Seniors Meals. My partner and I had a steak and fish & chips which were delicious. Would not hesitate to return. Great views of Port Philip Bay were the plus.

Had a family lunch at Sandy recently. We were seated on the balcony and found it hard to hear each other. Next time, we will sit inside. The food and service was good.
