Customer Review

Lovely lunch in a country pub on a cold wet day in winter. I have driven past for many years and was so glad I decided to stop. Our waitress Natalie was lovely helpful and epitomised a country pub. We booked so they knew we were coming and the food was excellent. Nothing fancy just good pub food. Ambience was spot on being in an historic building.

Had a meal with my family last night. Kudos to the staff, they made a minor error as they misheard what was ordered, however they were more than keen to rectify the situation. The lamb shank was unreal. The other meals were also very flavoursome and generously portioned.

Didn't stay in accom just Sunday Lunch. Food: just OK. Will have to try a few times to get the hang of this pub. Friendly, quick, attentive service. Quality ... Almost a 4. Broccolini a bit limp and going to seed look (not a cool look). Seats a bit uncomfortable. Could do with some cushions. Will try again. Will keep an eye on it.

We had a lovely meal. The portions were very generous and the menu had some amazing variations to the traditional schnitzel. Food was really delicious. The staff were prompt, polite and very friendly. This hotel has a lovely atmosphere, always a pleasure to visit. Highly recommend it.

Went there for a Sunday lunch. The beer was cold and well priced by today's standards. Unfortunately the food wasn't so good. My wife's Royal Oak Burger was flavourless. The patty needs seasoning. I had the seafood basket. The only bit that was good was the chips.
Will stop by for a beer again but skip the feed. Staff were all very friendly.

My partner and I had some of the BEST service we've ever experienced on Friday 15.3.24
I'm 8 months pregnant and the one thing I've been craving this whole time is a delicious chicken schnitzel. Anyone who's pregnant will know how important the right food is to satisfy a craving.
Our server, a wonderful woman by the name of Nicole was so patient with all my silly questions. Super friendly, chatty and truly KIND.
Nicole recommended the schnitzels and her recommendation was SPOT ON. I had one of the best meals I've had in the last 8 months and I probably wouldn't have ordered the schnitzel out of fear it wouldn't be what I wanted without Nicole's help.
All of the staff were lovely and the food was delicious and we absolutely will be back.
Nicole, if you're reading this, thank you from the bottom of my heart. Sincerely, an emotional but very happy pregnant woman.

Wanted to share our experience from a couple of days ago when riding along supporting the tour down under one of our riders was experiencing heat exhaustion so we stopped in looking for air con and cold water. The lady behind the bar was so thoughtful and caring filled our bottles with ice and wouldn't take money - we all bought drinks- couldn't say much more than this place is so welcoming and friendly only wish we could have stayed longer - thank you very much we will be back - all we have was the photo so please pass on our warm thanks

One of our local pubs not visited in quite awhile. Some issues with our booking outside space but did find a spot (mixed communication ???" between staff). This was a Sunday lunch so a little busy! Food was very good beef snitzel a little dry. Dessert was ??'? lovely spot with DJ music great place for a leisurely lunch!

This place makes Fawlty Towers look like a 5☆ establishment
On line menu shows Panko Prawns as a Main
Doesn't show on in hotel menu BUT are available in Seafood Basket.
"You can only have what's on the menu"
Ordered Chicken Schnitzel came back after order taken
"We have run out of Chicken Schnitzel and hadn't told bar staff"
If Kurt had called me "mate" once more think I would have walked out.

Definitely won't be back!!!!!

Service so bad it defies belief! Don't walk in and expect service any time quickly- they're not prepared for 'walk ins'- 50 minute wait for four meals when there were 12 other people in the pub. Kids hamburger- dry meat, dry bun and a slice of cheese took nearly 50 mins. "Manager" should learn about customer service. Smirking her way through complaints gets you a one star review, and a good manager would know that a bad review spreads ten times faster than a good review. And no, there were not people ordering food outside because nothing came out of that kitchen our entire wait except one garlic bread. Will never go again, and we're locals who go out a lot- this place is an absolute wast of time and money.

Had dinner at the hotel. Nice atmosphere, reasonably quick service and good food. Prices were mid-range pub as expected. Schnitzel was a larger meal and very tasty.

Had to wait ages for someone to acknowledge that we were waiting for a seat then quick to try to take our lunch order, two of us hadn't even seen the menu. 2 of our 4 meals were delivered and finished before the other 2 arrived.
Extremely bad service, need a lot of training.
Won't be back.

Traditional Aussie country pub. Had a decent rack of ribs and a beer. Often busy on weekends, it was remarkably quiet for a Saturday early evening.

Visited on 18/08/2022. This gem of a South Australian country pub is well worth the visit. Food is good and the service is excellent. We had a chicken burger and warm lamb salad. Burger was well prepared and very tasty. Lamb salad was excellent. Ample lamb and delicious salad. Service was terrific. The pub was not busy at the time, but it was not our first visit. At the busy times, service was still good. Try it out. You will not be disappointed. (On the downside, the carpet really does need to be replaced.)

The Royal Oak Hotel is a lovely country pub in the style and ambience of an old English pub.
We had the pleasure of having lunch at the Royal Oak, mid-week. The menu was very reasonably priced with a good range of choices for entrees, mains and deserts as well as daily specials. A good range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks were available.
The presentation of the ample-sized plates of food as well as the quality of ingredients and the cooking was simply excellent.
Natalie was our host/waitress who was very welcoming, friendly and helpful. We thoroughly enjoyed our food which arrived at just the right time.
There is a range of seating options from 1/2 people to tables for 6.

Has my 40th family lunch. The food was great, my steak was cooked to my order unlike most places. Would recommend highly eating here.

Best grilled Haloumi I have ever had. Not a bad beef schnitzel either but why oh why do they smother the chips in salt. There are condiments on the table so completely unnecessay. Nevertheless, I will return as the service was very good.
