i love it the daily specials meal. because it really high vaulem and very delicious. the shelf will tell you the best sauce let you choices. Service was also nice ,it can com every night. five star for recommendations.

Awesome local pub with a great atmosphere and bistro that serves great menu i really enjoyed our dinner the service and staff were fantastic

Usually have lunch every Wednesday, it shall be one of best cafe you are able to find at Sutherland. Food is good, staff is super nice and friendly especially a lady who is tall and with great accent. Will most definitely have lunch or dinner again!

Beautiful fresh grilled barramundi with a nice salad and chips. Meals were big portions.

A typical pub. Schooners are good quality. No pints except for Carlton unfortunately. Free pool on Wednesday and Thursday (pool comp). They charge extra for a schooner size spirit and mixer for some reason whilst their standard size looks a tad small.

Overall good.

Haven't tried the new food vendor yet.

Great staff, welcoming and want to help out that extra bit finding items asked for or making your requests there top priority. Food was great and was fast leaving the kitchen, even when the place was 80% full.

The beer was cold which is great.

And the over all atmosphere was good. A nice place for lunch or dinner for sure

Good food good atmosphere very busy on a Friday night, but service is quick.

Had the basic chicken Parma it was good about the size of my face - so a good size. And the chips were crispy and not soggy which is always a plus. My wife had the surf and turf, the prawns for that were excellent. We also got some mushroom sauce with it but that seemed to be gravy with mushrooms in it so not the best mushroom sauce, but it went well with my chips so that was great.

Has a play area for the kids and a good family atmosphere (not much swearing) - with lots of other kids to play with while my kids waited for their food.

For the kids meal I'd recommend the spaghetti as it was a generous size very yummy.

Food was very tasty, I'd recommend dropping by for a nibble, drinks or dinner.

Another good experience visiting
- Food well priced considering the HUGE portions
- Friendly staff, not fake engagement, just engaging and chatty as required
- Restaurant was about 70% capacity (rainy night), food furfillment time could be a little quicker but some earlier meal groups had a much faster delivery time, so I may be being overly picky
- Good variety of steaks both in price and proportion size. All steaks ordered came with a generous serving of chips, none of the different meals were less than large to huge proportions
- Lots of seating arrangements, from 4 setting square tables, to 4 seater semi cubical, to longer tables with between 8 - 12 seaters (can join tables to make bigger groups if required I assume)
- We booked ahead, take was ready, labeled and nothing more required than to sit down and order
- Ordering can be done electronically or going up to the order section (I suspect they prefer at the table electronic ordering)
- The electronic ordering was simple with ample options (chips and vegetables was possible with a steak order, normally this option in other places gets you a strange look from the usual chips and salad)
- Windy wet cold night outside but the place was still warm and void of drafts and throughput wind you can sometimes get in some places that are larger venued

Overall, a good experience like what we have experienced before, so in this regard the standard is still good

Another excellent meal at Mike's Sutherland, the chefs really know how to cook a steak to order

Great historic pub in Sutherland.
The food is very tasty and up to standard the portions are also large, the Royal has a good amount of options on the menu including a decent amount of seafood.
Offering two pool tables and two outdoor areas it is deceptively spacious for a small pub.

Cosy place with friendly staff. We had a small work catchup in the main bar and the atmosphere was a good local pub vibe. Would definitely recommend the sweet potato chips they were crushed and amazing and good size serve. Not a tiny bowl like some places. An example of thier friendliness.. One of the drinks our ladies was having was only available at the back bar but they staff were always willing to go grab it for us. Lots of other places just would have sent us walking.

Mikes Grill at the Royal is a pleasant place to meet up with Sydney friends and enjoy the great food at a reasonable price.

This pub does not sell cigarettes! Great Initiative,

Absolutely attrotous bar staff, walk in to purchase a cold soft drink, told have to check in to just purchase a drink regardless if just walking out after purchase, then after reluctantly doing so was rudly informed that i was in the wrong part of the pub and would need to relocate to different area, will not be coming back to the premises. Please reconsider who you hire to staff your pub... with their attitude no wonder it was quiet. 15:35pm 5/4/21

Best meals in the Sutherland Shire, although alcoholic drinks too expensive. Staff are efficient & friendly. Casual atmosphere.

I had a surf n turf and the meat was grilled to perfection. The atmosphere was energised...not sure if that's 'covid freedom' or Christmas related. The service staff were attentive. In fact one of the staff was working her way through the line of patrons, taking orders, which moved the process along. Social distancing was applied. And yes, book a table ahead of your visit. :)

Used to visit this place roughly 2-3 times a week as it's just a short stroll from our offices in Sutherland.Normally we'd go there for lunch on Friday's and then drinks and pool a few days after work.On Halloween, myself and the team were very excited to head up for lunch and a few sneaky drinks before we headed back to work. However, as there was construction on the sidewalk we had to enter through the main entrance as opposed to the side entrance direct to the restaurant which we normally do.Just as we were about to enter the restaurant area, an older lady who works behind the bar in the front area asked a few of our team for ID (which is no problem at all). One of my team called me back so we waited together as a group. I advised the lady (who's name I believe is Dianne) that we were heading to the restaurant that one of our group was under 18 (and we were heading to the restaurant area so it wouldn't be a problem). Dianne advised us that we as a group weren't allowed in with one of our group who is under 18, and she didn't have a parent or guardian present.As this is a work function, and this is during work hours, I am the legal guardian of any of my staff who are under 18. Legally speaking, this is correct in every sense. I tried to explain this to both Dianne and the other gentlemen who was working, but they didn't believe we all worked together and thought we were making the story up.The asked us to leave and at this point I was shocked. I don't expect any special kind of treatment, but we attend weekly with between 5-15 of our my staff and spend between hundreds on food and drinks.I was honestly shocked and speechless and asked for clarification of the rules. Again, I was told by the gentleman that as I wasn't the "employer" of the person who was under 18, I wasn't able to accompany a minor. I advised him again (and by this stage I was getting quite agitated) that I was, but he didn't believe the story. Which I honestly just laughed at, because we are such regulars I know almost all the staff there by name (and they know me by name too!) and always have a laugh and a quick hello when I see them. Never in my life have I been told I was "argumentative" by any of them!On a positive note however, we walked just another minute down the road and went to another place instead. The service there was fantastic, everyone had a blast and the service was so much better.So, unfortunately we will be bidding the Royal a farewell, it worked for us for a while as it was quite convenient and close, but due to the rudeness of the staff who were working on the front bar on 31/10 we will no longer be attending this place and the $we have allocated for entertainment each will be spent elsewhere.As I mentioned, just a short stroll up the road are places with MUCH friendlier staff, cheaper prices, and as we found out more comfortable chairs and better ambience.

The pubs seems to think it is OK to allow some from their gamblers to flow through the dining areas. Have been going here for years. Was always a little bit of smoke but recent renovations have increased it. Horrible experience. Will head to Doyles across the tracks.
