Service - I want to give a special shout out to Jesse. You are a smart young man, who thinks on your feet and has great attention to details. You will go far, you have initiative and you are motivated. And I want to thank Petra ( I think that's her name) for being a great hostess.
Food - The food was good, the oysters was fresh and plump, the fresh fruits were super sweet and beautiful, therefore, the premium seafood platter for two was good. The grill barramundi was flavoursome however, I felt that the fish itself was not the freshest.
Atmosphere - Now that's where things went pear shaped. I was confused as to what category of restaurant / club / sport bar / fish & chip shop the Morgans or a pub the Moreton Bay Boat club is supposed to be. I can say for certain that it did not feel like a boat club. The prices are not of a fish & chip shop but the line up to order your food and drinks felt like I was in a local pub or next door. We were seated outside on the deck with the view overlooking the marina, which felt like a boat club. But the marina view deck has a Keno screen and a smoking area, making it back to feeling like a pub / sport bar. There was no table service, it was hard to find service while seated at the table. Meaning every time I needed something I had to walk back inside to find a wait staff. If there were wait staff available, we would have ordered more drinks while eating. But no one wanted to stop halfway through our meal to go inside to line up for a drink. There was a dress code but most people had thongs on their feet which it did not say you couldn't. My issue is what's the point of a dress code if you can walk in with a singlet, shorts and thongs? Once again confusion. We ordered a premium seafood platter but got two empty bowls for shells. Should not one of them be a finger bowl with lemon water? After going inside to ask for one, I got a bowl with 20 mm of water and three tiny bits of lemon. It barely covered the tip of my fingers. The service was hit and miss, depending on the staff, with Jesse being the best. With a renovation costing over a million dollars, I don't understand why the canopy covering the marina view deck was old and dirty. The tiny live entertainment corner was so insignificant, it looked like the entertainers were in time out. I think the Moreton Bay boat club has an identity crisis, that needs to be sorted asap.
