Worst pub in the area. Staff are rude and often try to short change you, the poker machines all of a sudden stop accepting the newer style bank notes if you're not doing big bets, I know people who've given the staff their phones to charge behind the bar and they "go missing" and the decor is terrible. The security guard they have working late on fridays and saturdays legitimately looks like some malnourished homless guy they've dragged of the street and dressed in a security uniform. I'm seriously surprised this place is even still operating, given how dodgy the place is. The pub is what I imagine purgatory to be like after you die and you're waiting to go to either heaven or hell. Avoid at all costs. Never again.

This place is all round pathetic, they serve food in the smoking area which is a breach of legislation and get upset if you aren't fond of cigarette infused meals.

The bar staff are hostile, judgemental and passive aggressive, the service is below average and you will have a terrible experience no matter what your intention to visit is.

The bistro is always empty, the local junkies play the pokies, the standard of patron that this place attracts is equivalent to the staff that work there.

I chose to come here for the Wednesday night special, being the $20 rump and the $5 happy hour beers, ended up paying $31. I guess I should've read the fine print and to top it off the steak was rubbery and the atmosphere was non existent.

Dinner. - Paid for sauce didn't get any. Requested chips and salad. Got coleslaw and half a tomato. Food cold. After a 14hr working day, thought I'd treat myself and would have been more satisfied with 2min noodles. Very disappointing

Very disappointed.... went out of the pokie room ... with the reserve on.... with 64 bux on it ... got a drink had a lil chat with one of the locals for a min ... to return To my pokie machine someone else on it .... the bar staff refused to do anthing about it ...l... was very upset over this ... she refused to check the video camera .... so im standing there ... completely bemused by this .... when i asked repeatedly for something to be done i was asked to leave ?.?... NOT HAPPY

Calm vibe, music was epic, food divine, drinks were definitely refreshing

Very quiet place. Went there at lunch. Food was good and the steak was cooked really well. I would go back.

Went to the hotel for dinner. To be honest we were really surprised at how good it was. A great range of pub classics.

Unable to eat in with time permitted, got 3 take away lunch's. Sevice was great, all meals excellently presented, tasted fab. Picked up a menu for future ording. Car park at back of Hotel was convient for ducking in and out.

We were hungry for an Australia ?? Day feed and were walking passed this Hotel. We popped in for a feed as it had been a while since we ate there and we'll we ordered and got a couple of beers ? to go with it. The steak was just delicious and veggies were not over cooked. Thank you to the chef for a great meal and to the bar staff the threes different Balter beers that I had went down well. I enjoyed the Hazy and the Mid strength ones. Keep up the good work. Spot on Steak Sanga and Grilled Chicken Burger. Not busy for lunch on a Sunday, infact we were the only people there. But once people catch on to the new bistro I'd say that won't be the case. Well done!

Editing my earlier review because it's very different now. The staff have become more attentive and have backed me up a couple of times so I feel safe even when I come for a beer on my own. It's peaceful and friendly with a nice beer garden. For your standard local pub it's a solid option.

Best food ever. Different budget priced meals each day of week. Chicken Snitty delicious. Pokie room as well 10/10 for the happy friendly staff.

The Mayfield Hotel is definitely a favourite venue of mine to go to, Great customer service, $5 beers for members Monday to Friday plus karaoke and raffles fridays and the food is absolutely delicious! My partner and I eat here often and we are never disappointed.

Good pub for a beer and a punt. Don't eat here as the meals are not great at all. Stag and Hunter across the road is much better.

Staff are so rude it's ridiculous. They are loving having the power of covid rules in their hands and really love bossing their patrons around if they get the opportunity. Generally unhelpful, negative and on a power trip. Also dirty and run down. Do not recommend especially with other pubs in the area making such an effort.

What more do you want in a hotel? Great outdoor area, well appointed, fresh look and a wonderful function area. Great staff, very helpful. Can't wait to have my engagement party here.

We ordered Chicken Boscaola, honestly the best I've ever eaten. Especially how tender and large the chicken pieces were. Great meal.

Extremely disappointing. My client wanted the salt n pepper squid that was on the online menu, only to find out that it had been taken off menu the day before but not changed online. After asking, they said they could do it with a side of vegetables, only for it to come out with some very sad vegetables and squid on lettuce for the same price as the previous menu item that came with chips as well. After stating this, staff gave my client some chips. My schnitzel was disappointing as well. The sauce for the seafood topping was very strong in wine and the beans still tasted frozen. Quite poor considering the cost of $26. The only good part of the meal was the chips, even though they were cold. Food was very lack luster and the service could do with improvement. Will not be returning to this bistro.

Mainly visit the bottle shop side of this fabulous little battle cruiser. Plenty of selection, from your homeless guy crazy juice in a box, to your semi up market craft beers and everything in between. Faithfully servicing god's own suburb and open late

Great pub great food and top staff. I love the members beer prices during the day and use the drive through regularly. The beer garden is a great place to sit and relax

Awesome food and service. Great music playing throughout the hotel. Great smoking areas. Friendly patrons. Absolutely my favourite pub in Newcastle hands down.
