Ordered 2 steaks and drinks. Waiting for the food 40min goes past wounded taking a little while. Went to ask the chief. They didn't receive the order.
Recommend when you order at the bar go check with the chief if they actually got it.

Love the place, the staff there were awsome, one man in particular went above and beyond to make our dinner a great experience. My 3 children and myself went there for dinner, my son was becoming a bit restless and loud, this lovely gentleman, quite tall and built, my kids thought he was Batista from WWE, He introduced himself as michael, I believe he may be a manager, he bought us a jug of water, and was super friendly, he was extremely understanding, with a great sense of humor, he really won my kids over and made our family dinner one of our best dinners to date, he even gave the kids some chocolates. Definitely going back again

I had recently returned from overseas after 2 months and decided to have a few beers and a meal with some very good friends at the Matto. We enjoy the new bar area and enjoy watching the NRL, we all live local. It has always been a very pleasant environment up until tonight.
We are in our late 50's, very mature, very active and respectful of our local community.
In early August 2023, we decided to have a few beers while watching the footy on a Friday night. We decided it was almost time to wrap things up and at around 8:30pm ordered a few steaks, after which we would be heading home. Our meals arrived and they were quite nice, not two bites into our meal a heavy handed security officer came to our table and directed us to vacate the area immediately. We were quite taken back by his tone and the abrupt nature of his approach. One of my colleagues pointed out that we were in the middle of our meal and would like to finish it before we left the premises. He said not his problem as he was under instructions from management to clear the area now.
His boss then came over and instead of diffusing the situation he escalated it and told us if we weren't happy we could leave the premises right now.
He was a bit of a firebrand and realised quickly how foolish he sounded and then left. Over the next 5-10 minutes security continued to bombard us reminding us it was time to leave.
I don't often write reviews but I have never experienced such poor customer service and bullish behaviour.
I won't be back until I am convinced that the management and security is more professional and properly trained on dealing with customers.
The Matto pub is not a family friendly or customer friendly establishment.

Karaoke on Thursday nights are epic ? 7pm - 11pm, and kids are allowed until 10pm! Great food, drink selection, awesome staff and lovely atmosphere. Cozy and warm.

Hi guys I came in on Saturday night for Dinner at 6pm I tried the 300g Rump Steak with Veg and Mash the food deserves 1 Star and a 2/10 The Steak was overcooked, dry and chewy, The Mash Potato was really bland really tasteless the veggies were a real disappointment the veggies had absolutely no flavour at all.

My next Complaint is the Staff were also very very rude and unhelpful plus they were disrespectful to me.

My last Complaint is the toilets were filthy and dirty they needed more care the Bathroom smelt like rotting fish it was just the worst experience Stinking Bathroom Bad Food and Rude staff the Manager you need to read this review and do something about your Pub!!!!

I have recently been coming here as there is a fantastic Karaoke show at the Matraville Hotel on a Thursday night from 7pm and it is local to me.
The hotel is newly renovated and has a new bistro menu.
There are different specials every day, drink prices are in line with most other venues in the area

Officially one of my favourite pubs! Local, down to Earth, quiet but not too quiet atmosphere, nice modern style and great quality food at good prices.

absolutely disgusting service, the workers are liars and the main manager with the tatts is a fool and doesn't know his job.
What a clown and i certainly wont be back, extremely dishonest workers, for all that money you spent on the renovation its a shame you didn't spend some on sending your staff to training school and how to get integrity. absolute joke of a management structure which clearly lets this place down as no one goes there, all that money spent and you have missed the fundamentals of a good business: good people, it wont be long before the place is shut down and then i might revisit with a new management team that actually know what they are doing and are honest.

We visited this establishment 2 weeks ago and my work colleague played the poker machines.
She had lost some money and finally got a pay out.
She was then told there is an issues with global network and may not receive her money.
We have now been chasing the money which we have a receipt for and still been getting the run around.
The venue hosting the poker machines should be responsible for paying this out regardless of the excuses we have been receiving.
If you are going to play poker machines in this venue please be careful. The next step is contacting the ACCC if we don't receive out rightful pay-out.

I had my 50th Celebration here for lunch only yesterday. Was very impressed with Georgia, Kate and Team as they looked after us so well. The food was fabulous, the whole family enjoyed it. It was a very comfortable place to be. A big thank you, we'll be back.

Over priced for small portions.
$5.40 for soda water out of a gun
$18 for 5 chicken wings
$20 for 10 mussels that jadn't been cleaned so had to be picked apart to be edible.

$120 dinner and leaving hungry and ripped off.

Friendly staff and very accommodating. Nice new renovation too and great food to match. I just wish they would bring back the nachos ;)

Post renovation the service and architectural atmosphere is immaculate. A great family oriented hotel vibe is being promoted which is ideal and welcoming. Customer service from the hotel staff has been professional and ideal. Definitely will be coming back.

I have to congratulate about the renovation, they have done an amazing job to make the hotel looks so much nicer, modern and elegant. Great job!!
The food was nice too, we had a schnitzel and a chicken parmigiana , good portions and well done.
Definitely happy to come back!

We dined as a large family last night. The staff, service and food was excellent. Congratulations we will be back.

New bistro (28/10) charges $18 for 5 wings. Over charges and over delivers to pay for new reno.
Cold beers though ?

Been here twice since the renovation and new restaurant. Tonight was super busy and the food was still great and good service.
Had the baked Camembert and prawn taco for entree both very nice and mussels and steak for mains both also great!

Our group lunch today was OK. Firstly let me say the renovated restaurant looks beautiful and inviting. New menu a bit fancy for the area. Pulled pork tacos good. Children's food good and substantial. Chicken schnitzel average. The requested medium steak arrived well done. Stay away from the crispy pork belly and slaw. Slaw was delicious but the pork was left uneaten. Thought I was getting a piece of succulent pork belly but what was served was chopped up dry pork bits. Menu should reflect this. Our waitress did not know the food when ordering. I know at present difficult to find staff, however working staff should at least be familiar with the menu. Preferred the old menu and food. Hope things improve.

Local club can't go wrong. We haven't tried the food yet. Soon I guess

The new Bistro chef is amazing! The 1kg bucket of wings are a favorite and the ribs were really meaty too. Kids loved the mash and sausages.

The Matraville Hotel provides quality pub food and drink alongside a friendly and warm atmosphere. I highly recommend this hotel, especially for the 13.50 steak special on each Wednesday.

It was a wensday after when a friend and I visited here not many people there but a nice atmosphere. Friendly staff

Wanted a simple but delicious meal and didn't feel like cooking. Over pizza, Thai and burgers and thought I'd give this place a go via Menulog.
The meal, Chicken schnitzel with mash and salad.
Price, alright.
Taste, delicious.
Value, very good.
Will I re-order? Definitely.
Unlike most places, the chicken was fresh and decent size, the mash tasted fresh and fluffy, the salad simple but delicious. Great flavours, not too much salt, lightly handled and importantly actually tasted fresh. Mushroom sauce could have done with more actual mushrooms, though.
Definitely recommend. Maybe not the pub itself, as it still stinks of smokes even after a reno but the food is a go.

Bistro staff friendly and the parmis are good, but the whole pub stinks like cigarettes, including in the eating area as its right next to the smoking area, separated by folding windows that are not airtight. Also, not family friendly as no baby change facilities available. Fix the smoke infiltration and the bistro will be busier!

If you're looking for a pub with cold beer, decent grub, a TAB, a few TVs, pool table with good felt and an environment that isn't hostile, then this is a pub you'll enjoy.They do what they're supposed to do well without being anything special.A good, honest suburban pub.
