Free pool was good, but the only place I could have a fag with my beer was in the pokies not entirely optimal to say the least, thanks for the free peanuts tho.

Love the pool tables and fun to play off as no damage to tue tables showin well looked after by the friendly staff. Two [---] room areas to choose from are a nice difference. Little sad not to have a kitchen on hand and had to order uber eats delivery

Very well run establishment . excellent friendly outgoing staff & service. Seems to be well-maintained, beer is fresh without an aftertaste as you get in some places in Marrickville . I have not tried the food yet?

Cheap beers on happy hour and nice staff was the only positives I could get from my visit. Real shame that the front balcony was converted to pokies and smoking area. The pub smells like an air conditioned servo that has been smoked in and there is no street ambiance in the pub anymore. I won't return while the pub remains in this configuration.

Marrickville Ritz Hotel is located at the bottom end of Illawarra road about 50meters back from Marrickville Road.

Modern and Clean fit out. Friendly staff. Gaming area is split into two areas as you enter the Hotel. Entrance to the left and right upon entering. Payouts and wins on machine 2.5 stars outta 5. Open until 4am most days
Bistro has a variety of menu items from Burgers to Steaks and more. Thumbs up on the Burgers and chips. Good proportions.
Bar has a variety of Beers, Local and International. Same with spirits and wine on offered. Definitely recommend the Bistro for lunch and dinner.

Sad to see this venue change tact and choose pokies over everything else. Before you could have a lovely meal in a spacious area out the front and people watch.

Recently went there to celebrate a birthday and noticed they have since enclosed the entire front section and turned it into a gambling den devoid of any pleasantries. It's really quite confronting and we felt hemmed in.

I'd never eat here again! We ordered Fish and Chips and we got two thin pieces of Fish with over cooked fries and Salad which had the blandest dressing on it. The same came with the Chicken Parmigiana it was ok but what they call Mushroom "Gravy" was grey liquid with little bits of something in it. Not up to a Chef's standard at all. A total waste of money with over priced Tooheys in a Bottle. We walked out REALLY regretting our choice of Pub in Marrickville knowing you get much better in the area.

Food from here is suprisingly good. Got the BBQ wings with a side of Death Sauce, the sauce is amazing, chicken is juicy and the blue cheese sauce is pretty good too. The death sauce is extremely hot. Good for a challenge, eating it and also challenging on the toilet the day after.

Awesome bartenders, decent array of music played and quality affordable steak. Good quiet pub to chill and eat at!

The last thing this neighbourhood needs is another place using pokies to strip money from the vulnerable.

On top of that, the beer is questionable, the service frequently unpleasant and the atmosphere is awful. This is where good times went to die.

This place had very little ambience before. But a recent reno has made it so much worse. The only window and area with natural light/view outside has been converted into a pokies.

The resulting appearance from the street is hostile to anyone not wanting to gamble, and would discourage locals/visitors from popping in for a drink.

Would love to know if the owners have plans to create a more friendly environment elsewhere? Is upstairs an option?

Most other establishments in this suburb are lifting their game trying to provide a good environment and experience for locals and visitors Unfortunately not the ritz. Theyve decided to replace their only good street facing frontage with yet another poker machine room, blocking all natural light to the pub. You might as well go to the TAB. This is no longer a place to dine.

Food and beers are good. Felt very unwelcomed in the Gaming room/den. Regulars sitting around on multiple machines not playing, watching one of their mates play, and unwilling to give up a seat. Disappointing that staff timidly took their side and would do nothing about moving anyone on so others could actually play a machine. "They are going to play soon" Not conducive to anyone wanting to have a quick slap, whilst waiting for lunch.

Went to the Ritz in November 2020 for dinner on a Thursday night. The decor of the dining area isn't great but I thought the Chicken Schnitty and coleslaw was really good. They also had my favourite beer (4 Pines Ale) on tap. How good is the Ritz!

Good place for a quick burger or big groups. The cocktails were pretty surprising. Generous dimensions, economic and really tasty. Do not miss their Bloody Mary!
