This is one of those pubs that's desperate to get you to spend your money gambling. The food was fine, but it's nothing special and the prices are more expensive than you'd typically expect as well.

I have been going to Mackay's for years and have always been happy with the service and meals, but this time we stood in line waiting to be served whilst the waitress was having a lengthy chit chat with someone she appeared to have known, Then later when my meal was served up, I had grilled chicken with creamy garlic sauce , the chicken breast was extremely small, was partly burnt in some places and very dry , the creamy garlic sauce was not creamy, it was as if it had been watered down and quite tasteless and the vegetables were very dry , as a long standing customer, I was very disappointed 😟 hopefully they change their chef

One of the most enjoyable pubs I've ever been to, and I've been all around the world! Went on a Friday after work with my wife and the atmosphere was electric, filled with locals catching up and having a laugh. Happy hour from 5-7 made the drinks dirt cheap and they included some complementary hot nibbles which was generous. During happy hour they also had a spin the wheel raffle which you were entered in automaticly each drink you purchased. The wheel had all sorts of prices such as free food and drink. Nice and new/clean inside and excellent staff. Will be back for sure and I recommend you come along too.

It took us a while to be served. The door is probably to far and around the corner from the service area. However once we were served the food came our quick and it was really good! I'm happy paying $100 for two mains, children's meal and two drinks. Good experience and will be coming back again!

The food is always great and the staff are friendly if a little under the pump at times.

Service was prompt for initial drinks and food ordering, but we weren't asked if we wanted any more drinks and these were slow to come when we did ask for them.

I do like being seated rather than just wandering in and table ordering is certainly nicer and more restaurant style than going to the bar. However, there needs to be enough staff for them to cover the tables and groups and those staff need to keep an eye out for empty glasses etc - it's a prime opportunity to sell more product.

The atmosphere is fine for lunch and pub. Three stars shouldn't be considered bad.

To score higher for an evening where people are going out and often for an occasion, means changing to a more restaurant focus. The music should be back ground and restaurant in style and removing the TV and keno off.

Enjoyed a lovely roast and then some ice cream and a beer. The waitress asked if we wanted the seniors meal of main course, dessert and a drink which cost less than the main off of the specials boards. Staff were very friendly and helpful

Went for dinner tonight. Food was delicious. My Barramundi was cooked perfectly. My partner had the calamari and thoroughly enjoyed. Prices so reasonable for quality of food. Will be back with friends.

It was raining hard and we needed to eat. What a place! Very child friendly, very helpful employees and darn good food. Made the rain go away.

Pork bao buns, beef burger and the salt and pepper calamari were absolutely delicious.
The schnitzel and Hawaiian Parma was average. The chicken was dry and the crumbs were too thick and flavourless.
Great service - very friendly.

Chicken Schnitzel was overcooked and edges turned up. Banana cheesecake was well presented and delicious!

Food was overcooked, sauce tasted burnt, service was slow. Most likely will never eat here again, it sucked

Hubby had Barramundi fish and I had cheese and baccon pizza. I don't like BBQ sauce so didn't enjoy the pizza. The fish was good.

Good pub food, clean and great play area for kids.

Lovely family meal. I enjoyed one of the blackboard specials, a lamb curry which had just a good amount of heat. The children really love the ice cream as part of the kids meals and of course they lo e to play with the other kids in the play equipment.

Love dining at Mackey's. Meals with flavour and the best gravy.

Regardless of fathers day, a good chef should be able to manage the load. 50 minute wait for 2 chicken schnitzel burgers from bar menu. To top it off, comes out, looks like it's one small schnitzel cut in half to feed two. Staff very rude when asked about how long burgers would be. Might pay to shut off bar meals on special days if the chefs not up to serving all areas.

I went with a friend for lunch. I ordered marinated pork belly served with jus, over pumpkin mash but opted for salad and chips.
The meat was like old string, no taste and hard to cut with a knife, and sent to table without any jus. The crackle was like shards of glass , rather than crunchie like pork crackle, it was dangerous as it was tooth breaking, it was so hard I gave up

A small group of us(4 kids, 4 adults) went to Mackeys for dinner.
We were seated and drinks were ordered from the very friendly bar staff.

2 of the kids ordered from the kids meals which came quite quickly, maybe 20 minutes before the rest of meals. Once they inhaled that they played on the play equipment inside.

From there, it went downhill.
My partner ordered the pork belly, which we both would normally order when it's on a menu and I ordered a mixed grill platter.

When the pork arrived it didn't look appealing at all. No crunchy skin, unusual colouring and looked like a gelatenous cube of fat.
I didn't try it myself (as it looked gross) but my partner couldn't stomach it saying it tasted like a sock.

My mixed grill had all the good things like a nice porterhouse steak, chipolata sausages, chicken, bacon, egg, porkchop, fried mushrooms and tomato - as the menu describes.
It was TERRIBLE! All Of the meat was so dry I had to have a drink after each bite. If for not being as hungry as I was, I would have sent it back!
I've had better tasting microwave meals and that being generous to be honest.

The waitress that had been giving us the best service came to check how we were going with drinks and meals to which we replied with our unhappiness with the meals. I had eaten mine but said it awful and told the waitress that my partner couldn't stomach it and it was bad that she didn't want anything else.
The waitress took the meal back to the chef as we wanted a round for that dish.
When the waitress returned she told us that the chef had said there was nothing wrong with it and to not refund!
I would have loved to see the chef eat it.
Lucky for us the waitress cared about customer satisfaction and refunded us for the dish.

In conclusion: food was terrible but the bar staff were A++

One of the best parmis I have ever had! The chefs in mackeys are absolutely nailing it !!

An hour for our meal was absolutely starving by the time it got there. Wasn't overly busy at the time. I mean the food was decent apart from half the chips not really being cooked properly. We won't be attending again third time there's been an issue. Given this place too many chances!!
