We've visited the Leopold Sportsman's club three times in the past three weeks, mainly because it's close to home and, with two small children, it's nice to have an easy option when cooking feels like too much.
Unfortunately, our dining experiences have been consistently disappointing. I ordered the mushroom gnocchi and found it very bland and lacking flavour. There was no noticeable garlic or parmesan, which made the dish quite underwhelming.
The cake of the day was also disappointing. It was dry, tasted stale, and seemed far from fresh.
When we returned last night, I decided to try the marinara. For $30, I expected much better quality and flavour. The seafood tasted like frozen seafood, and not particularly fresh. The mussels had an odd taste, the fish was served with the skin on, and overall the dish was quite unpleasant. Once again, there seemed to be very little seasoning, garlic, or parmesan to bring the dish to life.
The only thing we really enjoyed was the cheesecake, although it didn't seem house-made.
Overall, we've given the Leopold Sportsman's club several chances, but the food has been consistently disappointing. Unfortunately, we don't think we'll be returning for another meal.
