Unfortunately my steak was like leather,I'm sure this isn't the norm.Look in meat cabinet on Web to see different meat cuts and prices, make sure your wallet is full.

What a great pub ... felt welcomed, staff were awesome, service 2nd to none. The meals and drinks were excellent and very well priced ... all in all a very nice night out.

Great selection of aged and fresh steaks to choose from. The meal can set you back $30-100 per person depending on your tastes. Lots of other food options as well. I had an 800g aged ribeye steak that was cooked perfectly. My brother ordered a tomahawk steak. Both were good and thoroughly enjoyed.

Would just like to say how amazing the staff are. My husband and I have travelled far and wide over this beautiful country and I don't think I have ever come across a pub run so well. The staff were very friendly and helpful, we could not fault the service, the way the staff cleared tables and checked areas were clean and tidy for the next guest. The food was fantastic, we picked an amazing piece of steak and it was cooked perfectly. I will definitely be recommending The Lawson to friends and family. Thanks

Extremely welcoming pub, my mate and I have never been to Mudgee and turned up here because it started raining. We sampled some local gin and the staff (incl. Teneille) went absolutely above and beyond to make us feel welcome AND to ensure the local taxi company were coming to us as soon as possible to get us to our event nearby. Highly recommend!

Delicious food and exceptional dervice by staff who acted like they wanted to be there. Special mention to Mel who was very friendly and made the whole dinner enjoyable. Portions were filing, service behind the bar friendly. Highly recommend the veg ravioli, and cheesy garlic pizza.

The Lawson Park Hotel is an excellent country pub with a warm ambience in the heart of Mudgee. The pub offers a wide range of beers and wines at reasonable prices. Staff are friendly and helpful. There are over-large bistro areas where a seat can always be found and a children's playground. The food is first class and comes in large serves. Highly recommended for your next visit to Mudgee.

What a shocking bad meal. Chicken schnitzel deep fried dark brown, dry, so tough you couldn't cut it. Dianne sauce was gravy with tomato sauce added. Chunky poor steamed veges. This used to be a great pub with great meals. Ate elsewhere for the rest of the week and will not return..

Ordered a 300g Scotch fillet and paid $44. Had veggies and mash with garlic sauce. Had the wrong sauce served with my meal and the corn in the veggies was rotten. No follow up was made. Using my initiative I asked about the rotten corn, only to be told Thank-you for coming tonight.

We had dinner and drinks here in January. Great pub with excellent local steak choices for dinner, cooked to perfection. A must to go to when in Mudgee, especially if you like a steak.

I visited this place pre covid when you could cook your own steak and enjoyed the experience of standing around the BBQ and talking with both other visitors and locals. I recently returned and was disappointed to be told by a waitperson that the bbq had been closed to provide a covid safe environment during the height of the pandemic. Disappointingly the bbq remains closed even long after all other restrictions had been lifted.
Drinks were the usual pub fare and sadly did not champion anything local which is a real shame as there is real pride in other local businesses selling local products.

We had meals at the Red Heifer Bistro twice during our recent visit to Mudgee. Great selection of meat cuts and we expected quality grilled steak. Unfortunately, both steaks were not seasoned at all. No chargrill flavour or crust. Sauces had little flavour. Veggies were nice, but potato chips - very dry. Desserts and Gooree Park wine were highlights of the dinner. Other time the Chicken Parmigiana was very dry with burnt crust, but cheese was not even melted. Grilled salmon was over-cooked. May be the Bistro should make their menu smaller, but master their disches.

When you order the $140 florantina steak, at 1.4 kg you expect it cooked to perfection. Medium rare for us. The t-bone was not grilled but stewed, it looked and tasted like a dogs breakfast. They obviously could not cook the thick cut of meat so sliced it up put it in the oven, it was like a bad roast, than piled all the slices of meat on top of each over. It was embarrassing that they could even serve that.

25 minutes standing in a queue to order food (from a pub in regional NSW?!?!)
I suggest you try somewhere else so that the owners understand about customer service which they obviously don't now.

ps this is an edit to my earlier review. ONE hour to not receive our ordered food. So! 25 minutes standing and waiting to order - 1 ½ hours waiting to get fed and still no food. Seriously!!!!
Please do not take your family here as your kids will die of starvation!!!!!!!

I had a lamb salad .. tasty and filling. More lamb than I expected and it was cooked just right. Cost $20 which is reasonable for a main meal. This is a family friendly pub with plenty of different areas to sit down and enjoy a meal. When staying in Mudgee thus us a place I can rely on for a good meal.

Steak itself was good, if a little pricey. Sides were shocking. Mash was sloppy and the "mac and cheese" was very slightly sauced pasta with some cheese melted on top. Both were barely edible. Salad and chips are probably the safest bet here. Red wine jus was nice, diane sauce was not.
Probably wouldn't go back or recommend. Overall it was a pretty disappointing meal, particularly for the price.

There's nothing like ordering from the menu only to be told a main component isn't available anymore and when it arrives for collection, the replacement isn't even in it either!

Have eaten here twice in a week. Steaks are soupy and there's no char/crust. Chips taste double cooked but at least the steamed veg was well done.

Wait staff are nice and seemingly competent however, so my thanks goes to them.

Foods amazing but some of the bar staff are absolutely terrible, worst customer service in town, never had anything wrong with the food but most of the time put off by the rude bar staff. 10/10 terrible service. Again foods killer though ??

The service was great, and food arrived quickly even when the bistro was busy.
This restaurant is best known for its steaks. I was expecting chips or salad to be included with the salmon fillet.

Visiting town for the long weekend and lucked on a table or two for lunch. Too busy eating to to take photos, but the meals were delicious. Something for everyone including great options for vegetarians. Highly recommend the broccoli, pea, spinach and chorizo side. Could have had it for a main it was so good. Service was quick, drinks were cold, couldn't ask for more.
