Pleasantly surprised. Drive past here everyday and always thought it'd be a depressing hole. It's quite nice. We just had beers but was a good venue. Very noisy(traffic) though.

5 stars for the Falafel burger. It was so delicious and fast service. Only $19 with chips. Glad we stopped in for dinner ??'?

Clean and modern Pub. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Beers are clean and crisp with perfect temperature. The food is exceptional, well presented and very tasty using high quality ingredients. Well done to all staff and management at the Jesmond Hotel.

Excellent steak night on Tuesdays. Only have been twice and both on steak night which is a great meal at a great price, we just wish we had a bistro of this quality closer to home in Maryland but still not far too go! Looking forward to trying the burgers next!

Once we walked into our room, it immediately smelled like Indian curry, not even glen-20 could remove the smell it was that strong. Cockroaches invaded the room all over the fridge and cupboards, absolutely disgraceful. The furniture was quite dirty and we had to wait 45 minutes until our room was ready. Before we got in the workers were having a huge argument over cleaning products. I woke up in the middle of the night to hear screaming if 2 people right outside my window, arguing and calling each other names and could not stop swearing and it was 12am. There was no service and the laundries were overfilled and absolutely disgusting. They need to work on cleaning the rooms a lot more. Overall it's an alright place to stay, but only for a night.

Old building and fittings. Everything was clean but it could not disguise it's age. Our room was directly above the music venue so loud music late into the night. Toilets down the corridor were dingy. Road noise dominated once the " music" finally stopped. Thin single pane (and cracked) window faced directly to main road. Single blanket provided so cold as well. Never again.

I love this place. Hubby and I go here for date night. I love their slow cooked short ribs and chat potatoes. Really nice, will continue to frequent this establishment

The place was crawling with cockroaches, in the fridge, on the stairs, on the roof etc.
The window was broken and the walls and roof were incredibly stained and dirty.
The lock was anxiety inducing because of how flimsy it was, and I don't think my family or I slept a wink because of the noise.
At least the sheets appeared clean.

This was a bit of a surprise package. Rooms were very basic with shared toilet facilities. Beds were comfortable. Hot water was not. The pub itself though was very nice and the steak I had for dinner was exceptional.

food is excellent. The pub is nice and bright and welcoming. We went for lunch and the general opinion is that we would be happy to go back.
Prices are good.

The security guard manhandled me outside the bar just because I won a pool game and told him off
The staff there tells me that I vaped there in the food area which I never did even after checking footage.
I never recommend this place and the security guard with beard and spects should be banned as he manhandled me

Burgers are epic. So wad the garlic pizza bread. Kitchen was very busy but dinner was pretty quick to come out. Was good with kids too. This place is great

Had there $12 lunch it was the best pizza I've had in awhile so worth it my dad had the schnitzel there pretty good aswell a great atmosphere ??'?

Had hi hopes for lunch due to the reputation of the chef. Who can destroy a chicken schnitzel? Over cooked and burnt. To make matters worse so we're the chips

The location is great and close to lots of amenities. The rooms were ok with common toilets and showers. The AC in the room wasn't great but we stayed only for a night and it wasn't a hot day. On hot days it might be an issue. Also has a pub Downstairs which has a good ambience.

I'd like to say a special thank you to the manager (lady in the button up) she didn't stop and when things went wrong she fixed everything..

the traditional margarita pizza should be pizza sauce,cheese and fresh basil... no sliced tomatoes only down fall

Best pub meal I've ever had. The ravioli was silky smooth and hubby highly rated the pork chops.

Nice selection of beer and local wines, delicious burger and friendly staff. We sat in the patio section, lots of hanging plants and natural light.

Popcorn chicken tacos absolutely delicious, burgers are really great,and the bone sirloin steak was cooked perfectly medium rare,definitely will always visit for a meal when in town.

It is a really nice pub, specially for Lunch time when it's quiet. The staff is nice and friendly and the food (quality-price) is so good.
My partner loves the pumpkin pizza and I fall in love with the mushroom burger. The fries and sweet potato are really nice as well.
Also, they have big screens for bets, smoking area and 2 pool tables.

The food here is wonderful, real wide range of choices. The staff are very friendly and the outdoor beer garden is great for summer. Pool tables and a large screen for sports. Such a great pub, thank you!

As nice as it is to have a trivia night in town, tonight was the worst it's ever been. I'm sure the lady hosting is lovely but she needs to speak up and give herself a personality that doesn't resemble a wet blanket. Having to wait almost an hour on food when there were hardly any people in is a joke. Unfortunately this will be the last time I will be back

Surprisingly delicious food. However, waited almost/ over 1 hour for the food the to arrive in my last few visits. Also, would be good if there were doors to seperate the smoking area, the toilet and the dinning area .

Thank you to all the staff for their patience, understanding. The bottle shop attendant was extremely helpful,the security staff were very obliging, the front house waitress extremely patient. Your establishment made it so easy for me with my deafness once again I appreciated the way I was treated.The food was brilliant.

The atmosphere is pretty good. However, food was bad. We ordered one pizza, some special wings and rump steak. Pizza base was undercooked, the rump steak is tough. Chicken wings was alright.

Definitely won't be back.

Best part was getting our refund and leaving the cigarette smoke filled venue.

We're from Maitland and had this place on our top 5 list of Newcastle places to hit for dinner/lunch.

Slow lunch period yet still took over half an hour to receive meals.

Sirloin, medium rare. Steak was incredibly cooked both medium well and medium rare, not sure how they did it, especially as rare side had heat and well side was almost cold.
Chats were disappointing, looked like the broken off scraps from bottom of the bowl.

Scotch fillet, 400g that was same scale as the sirloin. ???"
Ordered medium, came out light medium rare.
Then there was the quarter inch of gristle that ran from one side to the other, not at all expected in such a high priced, top cut of steak, couldn't even cut through it. ????

Chips were old and overcooked, beans less than palatable.

Wait staff was lovely, pity the kitchen service wasn't as efficient and time saving as the refund.

Nice food a lot of people there in the restaurant today. Bar service let them down 2 bars open only one person serving seems they were using one as a food runner. Prices they are charging they could afford to put an extra person on or have a duty manager do some bar work but no one to be seen.

Scotch fillet Steak was really good cooked well only thing was missing was a variety of vegetables. Only had chat potatoes and green deans for $46 dollars there should be a bit more. I wouldn't go again if I can avoid it ?

Entry door has exit sign on it !! Staff not interested in fixing & overall pretty disinterested.
Has very strange entry/exit.
Bar area had clean glasses for water but still wet from cleaning cycle. Straws not individual. Saw 3 people rifling through them (kids & adults !!!) Hygiene/Covid risk !!
Order area for meals only has toilet sign visible.
Very noisy due to high ceiling.
Food however great.
Really great lamb with char grilled broccolini & eggplant puree.
Chicken schnitzel really good.

Mid week dinner with the family and we were not disappointed. Fresh new look, great staff and all our meals were delicious. We will be back.

The food at Jesmond Hotel is always delicious; they have a great menu that has a range of options. I don't usually go out of my way to write reviews, however, as a local, I am yet to experience anything close to quality customer service from staff. There was a time where I was visited probably once a month with friends, and every time we went one of us commented on the rudeness of both waitresses and bar staff. There have been times where we've been told dining room was full and that we'd need to wait outside for a table, only to watch new comers sat before us. Unfortunately, we won't be visit The Jeso anymore - I'd rather drive further and establish a good rapport with a hotel that values their patrons.

Went there last night for $12 steak special and trivia night. My steak was cooked to perfection and a bargain. Didn't take long either and the trivia night was well run and fun. I was amazed by the renovations to the hotel as I hadn't seen there for some time, good atmosphere and vibe to place now. I will spread the word and definitely return.

Went here for dinner and we were not disappointed the meal was exceptional. I had steak with crispy beans and chat potatoes with pepper gravy. I give them a 10/10 for the meal, venue and service make sure you get there early ha e a wick drink then order your meal. It does get very busy on certain nights. Keep up the good work at the Jesmond Hotel.

Pork belly burger was amazing. Not fatty but delicious. Hotel was very busy but food came quickly. Young crowd but we enjoyed it anyway.

Smoky and very packed out. Food took almost an hour but we were greatful they fit us in on their busy trivia night. So we suggest you book a table ahead of time is you can to prevent disappointment and lone waits for food. Our food was great pub style food. We went on special steak night only $12 for steak, salad and chips. What a deal. Anyways 2 of us ordered that and it was consistent. Our oldest always loves to try the burgers and was impressed. Our youngest also loved his kids burger meal and chips and drink with ice cream. Great local pub with TAB attached so can have passive smoke smell.

The place was great! Good vibe, exceptional customer service from most staff except for 1 lady who was working at the bar on the 11th Sep about 10pm. Her service was unacceptable and her body language was horrible. I'm giving a 3 star rating because other then her, the other staff were amazing and place was lovely.

I needed to come up to Newcastle uni for a couple days and booked this place as it was nearby. I was informed on arrival that they were not accommodating anyone from anywhere in Sydney due to Covid. I don't have a problem with this policy, but I do have a problem with them taking bookings from Sydney without any notification on their website, booking confirmation email or anywhere about this policy. I was left high and dry in Newcastle without a place to stay. What's more the bar manager, Stephanie, was incredibly rude about it. No apology or anything.The pub itself looks nice and I was planning on coming here regularly, but I recommend anyone planning to stay the night to look elsewhere.

The male bar manager that worked last night provided exceptional customer service as did the rest of the staff working. Food was amazing and the overall atmosphere of this place is fantastic.
