We had my birthday lunch in Balsa yesterday and we both chose the Chef Selection. Great choice of dishes, plenty of food and very well priced. Staff were lovely and Emily, who looked after us was brilliant. Definitely can recommend and will certainly visit again!

After the big renovations, relaunch, the food was quality pub food with some nice twists, great quality, great value for money.
Now (last 18 months or so) its just simple, bland and actually below average.
Great place for drinks, but food is very disappointing.

Great pub, food is pretty good, atmosphere is great but found it funny how no staff knew what Tia Marie was. Told them you can have with milk which I think stunned them more. So I said just have a Baileys instead and they said with milk. We got there in the end sort of.?

Balsa restaurant serves unreal food for reasonable prices. Portions are big, quality high and the service is always quick and friendly. The Hilton is always good for a Friday gig as well.

Food was stunning, we had a lovely group table which was beautifully positioned. Service was amazing and there is some great gluten free options. ? We look forward to coming back.

Balsa at the Harbord Hotel - anniversary dinner. Had a great night out for an anniversary dinner at Balsa @Harbord Hotel. The staff were amazing, the food was great and as a coeliac I felt super confident that the food I was served would be safe. Very generous servings meant I couldn't finish my main - not because it wasn't great. Great selection of gins at the bar.

Balsa at the Harbord Hotel has become one of our favourite dining destinations. Great cocktails, fabulous food that is unpretentious and affordable, awesome service in a cozy upmarket environment - what more could you ask for? I'd selfishly like to keep it a secret, but that wouldn't be fair! I rate this restaurant 10/10!

Dinner at Balsa, there were a few issues but over all the food was beautiful and the staff very friendly. Staff need some training and one of the meals was not great, the good outweighed the negative so we'll be back.

Hosted my baby shower at The Harbord Hotel in the Balsa dining bar. Could not recommend it enough- the space was perfect, and the staff were extremely accommodating to all of our needs in the lead up to the event and on the day. Not to mention, super friendly too. The function food menu had some delicious options too. Would highly recommend hosting a function here!

We had an excellent meal and experience at Balsa. The food was superb and a great range of Gluten Free options - Coeliac friendly. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. We loved everything about our evening and will be going back for sure.

We hadn't been to "The Hilton" for years and just had a family dinner at Balsa - was lovely. Beautiful interior refurbishment! Friendly and relaxed but professional wait staff. The dessert menu we found a bit limited for choice and so passed, but our mains were delicious. Strong Friday night band scene in the main bar...we'll be back!

Excellent service. Our waitress was friendly, professional, delivered everything with a smile and was attentive without being pushy. The atmosphere is always great (love the interior design). Oh and wow the food service was speedy.

I took my mum to Balsa for a Friday lunch. It was our first visit to Harbord Hotel in many many years. I wanted to check out the reno & the decor did not disappoint. It's a really comfortable & cool space. The food & drinks were served quickly & everything was delicious. Mum loved it so much she called me the next day to rave about lunch again.

First time at new restaurant and had our anniversary lunch which did not disappoint. New owners have done an amazing job to the restaurant, very tasteful interior and the food was so delicious. Too many choices on the menu so opted for a bit of everything and had the chefs selection which was a great call - lots of share plates we were nicely full !!! Can't wait to come back again !

This place is a real gem. Both restaurant and pub, with lots of outdoor seating. We ate pub food which was all way way better than you might expect to eat at a pub. Great range of drinks too. Staff were all friendly and helpful. Overall recommend massively.

We had a really lovely lunch at Balsa. Our server was very attentive and professional. The hot bread and the potato scallops were amazing - they are definitely the "must get" dishes for anyone visiting. We ordered fish & chips; lamb ragout, and lamb flat-bread. All were excellent with generous servings. The deserts looked amazing and we ordered one - the lemon myrtle mascarpone. It was beautifully presented and delicious. Highly recommended.

Loved the atmosphere and friendly staff.
Meals were amazingly delicious.
We had the wood oven roasted pork belly & the barramundi with sweet potato, garlic & cheese pizza.
Unfortunately we didn't have enough room to sample the desserts.
Oh well, there's always next time.

Went to Balsa last night for a nice dinner with my parents. The food, service and ambience exceeded expectations. The service from our server was polite, attentive, professional and friendly without being OTT. We were happy with the choices on the wine list and everyone enjoyed their meal thoroughly. The atmosphere was lively but we had no problem hearing each other. Was good to see they were properly staffed. A great local option for us, we will definitely be back.

Great beer garden. Tap beer selection is massive, and heaps of good beer options. Vibe is great. Food... Only had beef ragu - d grade at best. Should be cancelled from the menu as chef has it all wrong. Wife and kids happy with their basic food choices. Will be back for beers, not so sure about food.

Great hotel, freshly renovated. Loads of beers on tap and some good food options. Very casual, bar and outdoor section with a bit more of a fancy restaurant section for table service meals.

The French Riviera meets Miami. Classy yet breezy. Our waitress Rachael made the night perfect - genuine, cool and perfectly hospitable. Refreshingly great service.

Boys long lunch at Balsa on the $59 3 course chefs menu... superb start to finish! Beautiful setting, great service & can't wait to return.

Our recent visit was for the 5 course Taste of the beaches menu and we weren't disappointed. We were welcomed by Mario, wished a happy anniversary and seated with drinks arriving promptly. The food, service and value for money was outstanding. We have visited several times now with interstate guests as it is a fabulous location and will be returning soon.

We can't wait to come back for more. The Monday May tasting menu was wonderful! Well done to the chef! and well done to the staff for making us feel so special.

Great beachside venue with a nice buzz. Food was great and a huge selection of beers. Had lunch inside then sat outside for a cocktail - perfect! Very attentive staff, good food and very nice environment. Recommended.

Food was fantastic but the standout was the friendly and helpful staff. Top spot, recently refurbished and a great venue for lunch with such a lovely outlook. Delicious steak and half chicken and gluten.. and dairy free which was a win.

Local pub, always good. Get rid of pokies and it would be perfect.

Brilliant parmi, massive serving - however old man style pub inside, depends on your preference, I would return. Large volumes of youth outside in the smoking area

I come here for the pool comp on Mondays and boy does it deliver. (on Mondays) Happy hour 5-7 sports $5 beers and basics, pool is $1, generous prizes, good food and friendly staff and patrons. A very homely pub.
