I booked a twin room a few months in advance for my friend and I who were cycling the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail. It was a shared bathroom arrangement so I wasn't expecting anything near luxury. It was a Monday night though so I was expecting relative quiet ... So ... we arrived, checked in to find our room was located at the front of the building above the main road. It was also at the top of the main stairs, at the bottom of which was a family dining area and the front entrance to the hotel. There was plenty of noise both from the street and the dining space but thankfully it was a Monday so that wasn't a problem all night. However right outside our room were 2 lighted exit signs and they shone through the glass in the room door all night which had the effect of well, sleeping with the light on! We had an early start for a long ride the next day and what with all of this, and rain thumping onto the a/c unit outside the window all night, not a lot of sleep was had. Given that the hotel seemed to be largely empty, it escapes me why we were given the noisiest, most light filled room when surely there were alternatives. Yes, I could've asked to be moved but by the time the issues became issues, it was too late. The food was tasty, the service in the dining room was accomodating and pleasant, but if you plan on booking a room here, be mindful and ask the questions if you need a quiet sleep in a darkened room, as it is not necessarily a given otherwise.
Noisy and too much light from the exit signs on the corridor.
