We booked our table online (thank goodness, as they were packed out) because we were off to a concert. It was busy but the staff did an amazing job and we enjoyed a lovely meal and beverages prior to heading to the concert

Absolutely fabulous night, friendly and helpful staff in both bar and restaurant.
Food was excellent and served in a timely manner and a follow up by wait staff of our meal.

This is a really nice pub with friendly staff in the bar and kitchen. The food is very reasonable with a good selection, also pensioners meals from $12. Easy to find in the main street. I've been going there for years, no yobbo's, come and try it.

Went for the Roast of The Day...
• Roast Beef: Executed poorly!
1. Roast beef SHOULD not smell and taste like char grilled steak!! I don't want my Roast Beef to taste like I'm eating at a Steakhouse!
2. Roast beef was dry and tough! Pretty close to being inedible.
3. Did not taste like Roast Beef.
• Roast Vegetables: Very well executed!!!
Service: for a meal that is advertised as "All day", and with no more than 12 customers to prepare for, we waited 30 minutes. When the meals came they were Luke warm at best.
Very disappointed!!!
The menu looks great, don't think we will be back to try again.

Ribs and chips were great, would get it again.
Also had the sticky date pudding, serving size is small for the price though.

Customer service was fantastic with smiles on their face.
Will 100% come back!

We came for a function,birthday party..,Was very well presented pub and function room,nice lighting and balcony area.Good finger food too,Up beat and modern..
My only gripes were with the head barman.
He talked at me like an angry ex Mrs.. Another issue was they must have run out of schooey glasses early cause I was getting hot glass from just being washed up then cold beer straight in it which was rubbish..
The good was its close to wests for a kick on later and Carlton draughts on tap there.

We went to watch the Matilda's game on Monday, the pub was very quiet there were only about 20 people in the pub our group was 7 people we were waiting for 1 person to arrive, so we ordered a seafood platter for two, the quality of the seafood was terrible, it was tough and not very fresh. Our guest arrived at 8.15pm and we went to order our dinner at 8.30pm the kitchen closed at 9pm, they said due it being quiet they were closed and would not serve 7 people meals. It was a very disappointing experience.

We called in for lunch at 2pm today.
Best snities ever unreal size,chips were very nice and plentiful.
Steak sandwich was the best.
And a big thankyou to the guys running the show as my kids dont drink fizzy and let us bring chocolate milk in for our kids.
Unreal service best food.

Called in for lunch at the newly renovated general Roberts. Very nice inside. It was mid day l nch time, very quiet, barely 20 people in the whole place. I ordered a steak and veg, wife ordered schnitzel and salad. The two guys in the kitchen certainly weren't rushed off their feet, and the wait for our meals was considerably long, maybe a half hour or longer, given the small amount of people. My meal was satisfactory at best. My wife's schnitzel was a totally paper thin chicken breast and the thickest panko coating we have ever seen, it was actually chewy. I'm thinks NG we won't be back in a hurry. We were contemplating coming regularly for wed night trivia, but considering the wait we had for meals when it's not busy, I'd hate to see it when it's packed.

Lovely hotel and highly recommend for dining. My wife and I were there for lunch and we had the seniors meal for $12. The strip loin steak was the finest I have tasted, tender, juicy and cooked to perfection, medium rare. Should have ordered the larger meal ??

General Roberts Hotel is the best venue for a party. I recently had my 50th birthday party and I hired the venue room. The food was great, staff were amazing. Everyone really enjoyed the venue. I highly recommend having your party at the General Roberts Hotel. If you wish to speak to a representative from the General Roberts you can speak with Cale Greer, he's professional and he answered all my questions in a timely manner.

Really nice pub with accommodation attached above. Beautifully clean and the staff were lovely and helpful. Very reasonably priced.
Downsides are other noisy patrons are easily heard though. My room was lovely but didn't have a mirror which would have been good and perhaps a kettle with tea and coffee. Perhaps a hair dryer too. The shared bathroom had no soap dispenser, so you had to remember to take some. But above all a really nice stay.

Absolutely terrible food tonight , we live 3 blocks away and enjoy the pub venue,. We dine for the convenience of the location but the meals are not good of late. We used to eat at the GR once a week with a large group of friends but not now. Basic as it is ,the menu hasn't changed for quite some time but the meal quality certainly has. It was more annoying tonight that I found myself apologising to my friends for the venue choice.

Great pub. We came for Saturday lunch. The staff are very friendly and the food was very tasty. Modern, clean and light filled restaurant and plenty of seating and there's a balcony too.

Nice night out for dinner with friends. Won a trivia prize. Nice meal. They actually do seniors meals which is great. Other venues should also have smaller menus for seniors. Great work.

Was greeted by staff upon entering, whom were also helpful when when informing me of the price difference of the lunch menu on Sunday. The food arrived not long after being ordered and was delicious. Will most definitely come again ???'??

Food was really great. The bar staff on Saturday 14th, 3-5pm were amazing. Had my 3 neices and we just missed lunch so hung around for dinner, with a short walk to break up the 2 hour wait. Colouring in books also helped keep them amused. Thanks guys.

Came in cause looked nice from the outside. Inside it's just blokes drinking with gambling and sport on all screens including restaurant. Not a family place.

Food here is delicious and staff at the restaurant are always polite & friendly. Bar staff are alway nice but always busy chaating amongst each other and I find myself having to always get their attention which is slightly annoying. Otherwise a great venue all up & a really nice atmosphere. Will definitely return.

Stayed a night recenlty $70 i know a pub not to expect the hilton the bed was ancient springs in your back worst night sleep. Near a set of lights with hoons all night ripping fully sick skids .

I would have put blankets on to make it more comfortable but i needed everyone on me as there was no heating in the middle of winter !!!

Excellent meals, I was with a group of 6 and we all thoroughly enjoyed the food and friendly service. A great place to visit.

Had lunch with the Mrs and was a good pub feed little bit on the expensive side but was very enjoyable meal so we didn't mind paying a little bit extra for added quality. We would definitely go back again

Rented a room here when I moved to Newcastle in Dec 2020. Rooms are decent value. The girls at the bar were quite helpful. The only downer was Nathan who seriously needs training in hospitality. Overall was average.

We stayed and at the General Roberts pub on our way from Melbourne to Byron Bay exactly the stops over we were looking for.Food was delicious ordered the battered fish and chips, hubby ordered lamb chops special delicious and finished with sticky date pudding! Service was amazing too (Lisa) very friendly and always there when we needed something.Accommodation was clean, basic and just what we needed to reset for remainder of drive.All in all would recommend.

Stopped in for a business meeting at about 3pm on a weekday. Was quiet, staff was very polite and helpful and a very professional setting. Looks like a nice place to have a drink also
