Food is great, service is great. Absolutely love this place! They have some great deals mon-friday aswell :)

The gaming room wasn't the best experience. The machines were dirty and the staff were using foul language. By the looks of it, the room is under renovation which I am sure will look good after completion.

Went for a meal. Vegetarian pasta was great, sadly lamb cutlets were deep fried instead of shallow fried & had too much crumb on them. Staff were friendly & pricing not unreasonable.

Had lunch today with some friends.
We all had the lunchtime specials.
I had the snitzel,chips and salad and the rest had the salt and pepper squid ,chips and salad. Great value for the price.
Definitely go back there for lunch.

Four of us enjoyed a few after work brews and dinner. A schnitty, S&P squid, BBQ Korean burger, and creamy Chorizo linguine. The meals were served quickly, piping hot, and delicious! My squid was so tender I hardly had to chew. Couldn't recommend highly enough, we'll be back for sure.

Everything about the duke was really good . I will definitely be back . It would be great if you got other craft beers like balter and 4 pines pacific ale ?

The staff are all fantastic and will go out of their way to make you comfortable. I took our little 18mth old and the waitress was so beautiful, making sure he had a high chair and when she seen him getting restless while waiting for food she gave him a bowl of chips to munch on. It's family friendly and the food is great. I will suggest you book a table as it can be very busy even on week days.

Great spot for a lunch time catch up. Lunch time specials are small kid size meal. Adequate!

I was really excited to see they had a vegan snitzel option on the menu but then was really disappointed because the lunch snitzel special didn't include the vegan snitzel. Others on the table paid $15 and I had to pay $23. It just sucks! Be more inclusive already!!!!

Lovely and accommodating for my daughter's food allergies. They even provided a safe dessert for her. So grateful ??

Can't rave about this pub enough! Easily one of the best pub restaurants in Newcastle. Food is always top shelf, service is brilliant and very welcoming when dining out with small children ?

I rang and booked a table for 20 for my birthday and was pleasantly surprised that they were so accommodating and didn't require a deposit. I confirmed numbers 2 days before the night for 16. Everyone was happy with their meals, I forgot to take photos, sorry. The only thing that I would say and is reflected in the rating is that one of my guests sprinkled a tiny bit of salt onto the table to check whether it was salt or pepper and a male staff member saw her do this. He then told her rather curtly that he didn't appreciate what she had done as he was going to have to clean it up ! ? Apart from that everyone was happy and I will still go back to The Duke.

I ditched Tilly dog for my uncle Wayne again tonight. It's ok she's forgiven me.its a fantastic feed here. Perfect Pork Belly for me and superb steak for uncle. Everything on the plate was cooked to perfection.
The service was absolutely outstanding and the pub itself is bright and spacious on the inside. Very modern but not 'uppity' just a great laid back atmosphere. The lady who served us was so helpful and provided some fabulous banter along the way and really did increase our enjoyment of the evening. Wish I got her name. I will next time as I will be back! Highly recommend the duke for a meal or a relaxing drink after work.

Hands down, if it was not for her our night would have been the worst.

She could see the issues we were having due to other patrons and was prompt to address our needs, go out of her way to make sure we were happy and was just a pleasure to have around us.
Because of her, we will be back.

Don't let this one go!

Waiting time over 50 min.. And all our food wasn't worth it. My burger was dry, pizza looked like stores bought, salad no extra.
Only steak and halomi salad was good.

Hi, we stayed at the hotel over the weekend in room 3. I was very skeptical about the shared bathroom as this was my first experience staying in a hotel with one. But the amenities are very clean and well kept. The cleanliness of our room was amazing and it was a neat and cosy. They staff are great, approachable friendly and laid back people. Will 100% stay again and recommend. Very affordable and cute.

The pub itself is nice and nice friendly staff. The food here USED to be very nice ,they had a lunchtime menu and it was very tasty ,however the past two times that I have been here for lunch it's been aweful. The prices have gone up and the quality and portions size has gone down. I won't be back until they get a new chief.

Upon arriving and booking it was brilliant! But that seemed to be where it stopped. The food ordered wasn't what was in fact ordered, sauces were wrong but the biggest let down was the 400g rump (ordered medium) came only just past rare, not even classed as a medium rare, food was a complete let down for the night. The male bar staff simply didn't speak a word to me apart from the initial "are you next" yet conversed easily with the 4 male customers that were being served. This visit was very disappointing as the previous times visiting the food was brilliant & all staff service couldn't be faulted.

Had lunch here with friends and it was great. Food was good, prices were fantastic for the specials and the venue is really pleasant. Only complaint was the food was slow coming out. There was about 15 minutes between the first 2 meals coming out and the second 2 meals coming out.

We went for a dinner with friends. The food and atmosphere was quite nice but it was very noisy in the main restaurant. Needs to have some sort of sound absorbing decor so we can all talk without shouting.

I had lunch there recently and ordered their 'From the Pit' Smoked? platter. (Can't remember how they named it. $34) Although not cheap, serve size was excellent with enough leftovers for dinner for me that night. Baby back ribs and especially beef brisket was delicious, tender, slow-cooked.Others had lunch special @$14 and were happy with their meals.Decor etc very nice. Dinning room acoustics not good - noisy, but good atmosphere.

Food was good, served as described. We had the chef salad x2 and pizza x2 to share. Food Service was good. Bar service by the female attendant left us feeling like we were an inconvenience, so sullen and rude. Ordering drinks when it wasn't busy seemed to be an imposition, and to ask for some water and glasses was met with more attitude. Not polite, didn't respond at all to requests left you wondering if she was serving you or not! Love the new look open air opening up the front of the bar area - great.

Had a great lunch there today. Relaxed with my wife over Carbonara and Salt and Pepper Squid. Lovely. Couple of drinks added to the relaxed occasion.

Really nice pub. A good example of Newcastle's thriving pub scene. Disability friendly. The whole pub is an open area and very relaxed. The bar bends around three sides of a rectangle. Two sides are the bar and the third side opens to the long attractively green dining area. The pub type menu has genuine vegetarian options, is well cooked, tastes good and is reasonably priced. There are there usual specials on different nights Monday to Thursday eg schnitzel, pizza, hamburger. I arrived mid afternoon and was hungry. The manager offered to cook me chips (although the kitchen was closed) because that was the limit of his cooking ability. The chips were great and I was impressed about the service ethos. I was a bit surprised that they did not have light beer on tap but the white wine was good. You'd think no pub in the Hunter would have poor wine but if just come from another pub whose house wine was appalling. This is really good pub and I recommend it.

Good Covid19 social distancing. Lovely meals and service. Friendly staff. Will Go back.
