We went for lunch to catch up with friends & family, we've been there before, but this visit was a disaster.
It was a busy day & they were obviously understaffed because we waited over 1 1/2 hours before all our food was served!!
They offered free beers, but we had 2 cars & we had our limit while waiting?????
You can & have done better.

Great food for a great price. Highly recommend will be back

Dinner today at the bistro.
Had the fried flathead fillet with salad and chips.Also ordered the porterhouse with chips and vegetables.
Both dishes were delicious.
Service was good.
Plenty of car park outside.

A very mixed bag. Roast of the day was very good. Plenty of veggies and well cooked, not rock hard like you get in many places. Excellent gravy. The steak was also very good and cooked as requested, although there was quite a lot of unrendered fat on it. Dessert never arrived as they didn't have any! Only advised of this when queried. Refund was quickly offered. The place is not very user friendly if you are using a mobility device. Lots of stairs and little nooks to navigate.

Long story short, huge down pour of rain before we got there. Water had come through into part of the bistro. We were offered a seat right away from it. Ordered Our tea. Was really quick and was bloody beautiful ! Just want to mention the fantastic service of one young girl I didn't get to ask her name but her service was top quality ! Well done ??'?🏽

What a disappointment.. all meals had something wrong with them including a meal with diary products after informing of intolerance. Some meals didn't even come out. Meals didn't come out consistently.

I rang at 10am for a lunch booking for 12.30 for 20 people from our club, when we arrived the table was all set up for us, orders were taken quickly and meals served within a short time, all great meals and amazing service thanks guys

Was a fairly quiet Thursday night we had the grilled barra and chicken, bacon mushroom risotto and both were delicious. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Wednesdays is kids eat free with an adult. So, atmosphere and ambiance is family based. Baseball caps optional. My brother had a Parma and was pleased. I tried a prawn rice dish which felt a bit small and tasted warm.

Ryan's service & personality was greatly appreciated, by us all this evening Table 15.
And our meals were very satisfying. Thank you all for making our end of week tea relaxing and enjoyable.

Food was gross and they whacked my son across the head with a plate and didn't say sorry or anything like that. There ice cream was melted and the food and desert was really slow I don't recommend

Rare steak cooked rare. A rare occurrence these days. Beautifully tender. A thing of beauty. Good value as well.

Staff are always a little vague. If you have stuff that is cooked fresh like Parma, fish or steak it is good. But a lot of the menu comes in boil in a bag and is warmed in microwave.

Excellent menu with plenty to select from, servings are generous and very tasty. Staff are friendly and helpful.

The Motel where I stayed recommended the Cumberland Hotel. PLEASE don't go there for dinner as the steak was so tough the knife couldn't cut it! The chips were soggy too! And the Staff agreed it didn't look very appetising when I couldn't eat the dinner! The manager gave me credit and the motel altered their dining out list. Went to the Railway Hotel instead which was fabulous!! 🍴🍷😃

What a pleasant surprise. We were looking for somewhere to eat and we drive past the Cumberland. I ordered the mixed grill with vegies. Wife ordered the steak sandwich. Both meals were very very good. My meal was the best I had in a few weeks.veggies cooked to perfection.

Ordered the chicken parma, chicken schnit and gravy & beef lasagne. Bit of a wait for the meals >30mins but good size and good quality pub feed made it worth it. Definitely be back next time we are in Castlemaine

There wasn't much of an option for a vegetarian meal, so I opted for the vegetable stack (the only option). It was undercooked. The potato was almost raw along with other vegies in there. All I could taste was starch. Couldn't even cut with a knife. Portion size was small. I had a load of chips and salad though. Not worth what I paid - $20. It was awful. How does this even make it on the menu?

Food was still good but this hotel has lost atmosphere, perhaps as result of covid-safe wide table spacing and over bright lighting in the bistro area. We came away feeling We had "eaten" rather than "dined". A shame.

Pub was extremely accommodating to a group of bikers at last minute notice. We're generous enough to donate a bottle of Alcohol to raffle off for a great cause. Thank you so much for having us. Meals were great, and staff are super friendly.

I had a mixed grill for Lunch there, the waiting time for my meal is above average, the staff there are friendly, I recommend the Cumberland Hotel Castlemaine well and truly.Thank you for the meal.

Very family friendly, kids loved their meal (which was free on Monday) they brought out colouring paper and pens for them and the staff were fantastic and friendly. My steak was utterly brilliant, cooked to perfection (blue) I actually passed on my thanks to the chef it was that good. Highly recommend

We walked in the door and were immediately greeted by a staff member who showed us to a table. Another staff member appeared with our cutlery and the menus. All the staff were friendly, happy to serve us and left us with a GREAT impression! And on top of all that the meal was fantastic!!! Highly recommend!

Shown to the dining room by a helpful gentleman. Both of us had a delicious lunch....chicken parmigiana and Thai red beef curry!!!! Yum!!!
