Grand Old pub, have not seen it for years.
Reasonably priced fresh beer , but have not tried the dining room yet ?
it is a well cared for historic pub . Work colleagues tell me the rooms are very good value & well appointed . Yet to stay.

Generous serving sizes. Friendly staff. Good wine list of local wines. Definitely worth a visit.

Just passing through on a Wednesday night and it happened to be Steak Night. Beautifully cooked quality rib eye and the veggies and mash were next level. Friendly service from the staff as well

I have been, to this restaurant a few times and I have had great food. My family and I went last Thursday, my Nan and mum got the $12 meals their opinions on the food was good, my mum got a steak sandwich with a well done steak but wasn't a fan of the veggies and my Nan got fish and chips and enjoyed them.
I got a chicken Parmi, although the flavours were good, I was disappointed at how small it was, and the chips were average.

Great staff and friendly punters. Had a great roast dinner. Seems like the best pub in the town centre by far.

Noisy, inexperienced staff and average food. We did not have high expectations and we were not disappointed on those, it was a very average experience. The place needs some experienced people running it, and a real refresh of just about everything in it

Stayed here one night and found the rooms and facilities to be very clean and the showers nice and hot. There is a little kitchen with supplies of bread, butter, spreads. Milk and juice as well. I will stay again.

Place is better inside than it looks from inside be outside, great large pub with restaurant, bars and beer gardens.
Food however is not worth the effort and prices reflect the small sizes, doubt anything we ate today took any great culinary skill to achieve.
Barman only spoke the minimum so best not to try.
Reckon this would be a great Friday or Saturday night just eat somewhere else first.

This was a lovely Pub Hotel. The rooms were clean and comfortable with plenty of space. It's not the Ritz, but I had no complaints. I also was pleasantly surprised by how clean and private the shared bathrooms are. It's all classic Australian architecture with super high ceilings. I will say the rooms are up a squeaky flight of stairs so it won't be suitable for disabled patrons.
I did have a chuckle when I walked into our room and saw a "Michael Scott" style plasma TV. IYKYK ??
The staff were very friendly, helpful, and super laid-back. It's such a vibe.

Been here twice to watch the football & have a decent meal whilst on a 24hr break.
Food is excellent & service is spot on.
Wouldn't hesitate to return.

One word yikes. Found the lady at the bar was aggressive one second friendly the next and the food.. average. Luckily we did get a free drink. We are in no rush to be back.

Rump Steak with veges, mash & garlic sauce was perfectly cooked. Also ordered Chicken Parmigiana and kid's Nugget and Chips. Everyone enjoyed their meals. Friendly service.

Booked the hotel for 2 days.
Good hospitality on the bar.(reception was closed due to public holiday) man showed us around got surprise with bigger room and plenty of beds. Wasn't expecting the room cleaning service. Free breakfast.
Toilets(share) are outside of the room but neat and clean.
Location wise perfect it is in heart of cessnock city.
Very very good will come back again.

We stopped here for lunch today. Nice atmosphere and good service. It was not too busy and food was served quickly. There were 3 of us and we all enjoyed our meals.

7:15 Saturday night..... Nobody serving at bistro counter - sign up saying "Back in 15 min".??? Asked for a schooner & a soft drink at the bar - staff member couldn't understand me as she was too wasted. Responsible Service of Alcohol also non existent. Ruined our night in Cessnock. Good job.??'?

Had a great lunch here. Plenty of options on the menu and the food was very tasty. The staff were very friendly and gave us lots of information re our upcoming visit to the Hunter Vally.

Don't be put off, if it's quiet or by the exterior. We came here, while on holidays, was brilliantly tasty. Well presented and fresh dinner. One of the better meals out. Try it out.

Second visit to this hotel for lunch. Service was friendly and efficient. Champagne was flat last visit so tried wine which was average for a $9 glass.
Food was disappointing. Very small steak for the price. Guiness and beef pie should have been called gravy in a pot, there was nothing solid other than the pie crust across the top but the flavour was pretty good. It's disappointing to rate this pub so poorly because it's a beautiful grand old historic building in a great location with loads of parking out the back. BUT the food needs to improve

We tried the restaurant for the first time today, pleasantly surprised. Friendly staff, good food and wine selection. Meals were pretty good, wouldn't say excellent, but definitely will come back.

Probably the best breakfast I've had in Cessnock. Better than the boutique eateries along Vincent street.

Coffee was amazing, nice and quiet .. a good start to a lazy Saturday.

Great country pub atmosphere. Restaurant was superb, meals were tasty, well portioned, great value, staff friendly and attentive. Great place to visit.

Lovely country pub. A great location with plenty of parking. The accommodation was great and so were the staff. The bathrooms were spotless and the water hot and plentiful. My wife and I would definitely stay here again.

Located in town at the end of the main strip of Cessnock we enjoyed a lunch experience here. We did not experience the accommodation. Lunch was delicious and fresh. The hotel had options of indoor and outdoor dining and was spacious throughout. Upon becoming a bit cool outside moved inside where there was a fireplace burning for the additional heat.
The bar service was fantastic and enjoyed a nice alcoholic Ginger Beer on tap.

Beautiful old hotel. Comfortable rooms. Clean share bathrooms. We had a lovely supplied breakfast ( toast, cereals, tea, coffee) on the verandah. I would stay again.

I had dinner here with my husband, father and mother recently, and it was a fantastic experience! Kara was incredibly helpful and an absolute delight. The food was delicious and the serving sizes generous, each dish felt like a wonderful home cooked meal. We definitely plan to visit again!
