The Castlereagh Hotel is easy to find and has a range of parking for short- and long-term guests and entry into the venue is easy to find (either from Brisbane Street or Talbragar Street).
Upon arrival to the hotel, my room was available and the young girl serving me was polite and efficient. She briefly explained my room and gave me a sheet of paper with details about the hotel. I stayed in Room 11 which required an ascent of stairs (there is no elevator).
The room itself was average, which was expected for $69. The King Single had one pillow and was comfortable. The headboard was not fastened to anything and banged against the wall whenever moving on the mattress. The room had a medium television, a small bar fridge, a wardrobe, and an array of amenities (coffee, tea etc.). The room was quite dated and would do with an upgrade. It would also be ideal if cleaning was done more rigorously as I found lolly wrappers behind the bed, the toilet seat needed a good scrub and a build up of dust in some areas. For some reason, the air conditioner would not turn on, but the ceiling fan was sufficient for the night.
The parking lot is gated and closes after 10pm but is accessible with a code that the front counter will provide. Check out is simple with two options; one, leave the key in the room or two, place it in the drop box.
Overall, a reasonable stay if you are on a budget but if you can spend a bit more, pay for a hotel on the main road.
