Friendly staff, comfortable rooms for a great price. A bit dated facilities, but no problem there.

Just came here for lunch, the steak sandwiches were better when they served them on toasted sourdough, now they are served on a Turkish style roll which isn't as nice & is now classed as a steak burger.
If its not broken, don't fix it.

An absolutely credit to this awesome hotel, the Castlereagh , not only was the food superb ??'? the staff were amazing, the room that I stayed in was comfortable and clean , I extend my gratitude to the wonderful people and atmosphere that I witnessed each and every night at this establishment, I will spread my thoughts with everyone that I know and I will indeed return again .
I extend my thanks to the great mates that I have made at the bar ?? and the [---] room .

The room is like a prison cell, complete with graffiti scratched on the walls. Dinner (chicken schnitzel) was inedible, burnt and rock hard.

TV in the room doesn't work so you can just listen to the cars screaming up the street. Luckily I didn't stay on a night there was entertainment.

Do yourself a favour, sleep in your car.

Food pretty average. Only time I have had to ask for and pay for gravy to go with my bangers and mash. Rooms atrocious. Overpriced, dirty and unhygienic. Was told live music (which was pretty good) would finish at 12:30 am. Was not told disco would go to 3 am. Ridiculously loud. Had to stop at a rest stop outside of town to rest for couple of hours to be able to keep driving. Avoid staying there at all costs.

$110 for a room that the blankets were not washed the jug was very grotty. I could of got a budget motel way better than this but l had to catch a bus from the train station by 8am and this was close to the station. I wouldn't ever stay or even recommend this hotel to anyone.

I don't know in which universe this place is a 4 star hotel, but not mine. The carpet smelt of cigarette smoke, the toilet didn't flush properly, the bedding had cigarette burn marks, my bed was propped up on books and the final straw was a cockroach running up the wall behind my head. I was expecting pub noise and cheap and cheerful, but not squalor.

How can they claim to be a 4* hotel? I've stayed in 1* motels better than this place.
Slanted bed. Cigarette stench. 5am beer barrel delivery.
Grotty.

An excellent overnight stay. Clean, basic but very comfortable room and friendly, helpful staff. We visited from Sydney and decided to stay overnight due to the brewing fierce storm. Last available room had 2 single beds and shared bathroom facilities, fine with me. The building is about 100yrs old and I love that most of the original features have remained. Recommended for anyone wanting basic but clean accommodation. Ps, we did not experience any offensive smells!

Booked on Monday online. Confirmed late arrival around 10-11pm. Yea no worries. Rang again before I headed off on the road. Everything is ready park around the back in the secure parking area and just see the staff in the bar though the main entrance to pick up your key to your room. Ok sweet. Arrived at the pub. Yes finally get to rest my head after the drive n b fresh for the big day of training tomorrow soooo tired. This is like 10:20 pm ish. NOPE can't find my key. Booking is there but no room key.. bar staff very apologetic and had other customers to serve.. but he suggested ill let u in with the master key and u can have the room for free. Someone was in there! Argh.. back down stairs on the phone calling managers and serving the patrons. Meanwhile im waiting. 20 minutes past. Could I grab a drink? Sure have it on me.. cheers ? down she goes and so does the time with it and another drink. Long story long. Abiut 30 minutes later Old mate got my room n I got his. Sweet its closer to the girls amenities. Ok no worries.. just wNt to go to sleep. Open the door.. eww what's that smell? Seriously not what I thought, nothing like the pictures on their website. The ladys was accross from my room. There wasnt any toilet paper not paper towel nothing! Lucky the place echos so much n the guy nxt to my room heard.. n my saving grace cme to the rescue from the boys loos. Thanks buddy life saver! I ended up falling asleep after reluctantly staying as the initial inspection was not at all welcoming. Yuck muck on the wall above the pillow so i pulled the bed into the middle of the tiny little room. About an hour passed n sum !%@$#* screaming and swearing woke me with a fright.. n that was me done.. no more sleep. Never again! Fair enough if u were stumbling up the stairs from the pub wasted.. but I was so very uncomfortable n just wanted a good night sleep ?

I had the roast of the day, which was lamb. Served with a mint sauce chips and veges. For 14 bucks, I thought i was dreaming. The portion size was satisfying and the service was excellent. The bistro was bustling with people, it seemed the place to be if in need of a good feed and a good time out

Had a meal with friends in the bistro. We were there at midday, 8 people. Placed our orders, two meals arrived in good time. The place filled out people who arrived well after us had ordered, eaten and left when staff came out and said the order was missed and apologised. We were served 20 minutes later. Food was what you would expect from a pub meal with large servings.

We had lunch while waiting for urgent repairs to our caravan. The caravan business recommended this pub for its good food and good value. Correct on both counts.

The Castlereagh Hotel is easy to find and has a range of parking for short- and long-term guests and entry into the venue is easy to find (either from Brisbane Street or Talbragar Street).

Upon arrival to the hotel, my room was available and the young girl serving me was polite and efficient. She briefly explained my room and gave me a sheet of paper with details about the hotel. I stayed in Room 11 which required an ascent of stairs (there is no elevator).

The room itself was average, which was expected for $69. The King Single had one pillow and was comfortable. The headboard was not fastened to anything and banged against the wall whenever moving on the mattress. The room had a medium television, a small bar fridge, a wardrobe, and an array of amenities (coffee, tea etc.). The room was quite dated and would do with an upgrade. It would also be ideal if cleaning was done more rigorously as I found lolly wrappers behind the bed, the toilet seat needed a good scrub and a build up of dust in some areas. For some reason, the air conditioner would not turn on, but the ceiling fan was sufficient for the night.

The parking lot is gated and closes after 10pm but is accessible with a code that the front counter will provide. Check out is simple with two options; one, leave the key in the room or two, place it in the drop box.

Overall, a reasonable stay if you are on a budget but if you can spend a bit more, pay for a hotel on the main road.

Spacious country pub with a pool table. Food was both well priced and well made - we had Wednesday's two burgers for $20 special and cheesy bacon bread, all substantial servings. Very nice staff and friendly vibe.
