Great old school style hotel in the blue mountains.
Step back in time the rooms are great, but my wife and I loved dining in the grand dining room, real life piano player and great ambiance, and great food.
Good staff, very friendly and helpful.

Staff are very friendly special shout out to Carl at the front desk. Also, dinner was lovely. Riley at the restaurant had great service.
Bedrooms are well sized and bathroom very modern very clean facility for a 1880s building.
Highly recommend compared to other places we have stayed in Katoomba. We will be coming back.

Booked dinner on a Wednesday night. Because I stayed at the Carrington as a child, I was gratified to see that the large dining room was almost full. Enjoyed the delicious scallops and lamb. Service was attentive and the wine selection was especially good value. Will always visit the hotel when in the Blue Mountains. Highly recommended as comfortable, well-located, reasonably priced accommodation, offering spacious rooms, historic appeal and friendly staff.

Such a beautiful old hotel with so much history. Had lunch there, had a Reuben sandwich and a cheeseburger both were absolutely fabulous. Had a chat with the manager and he told us a bit of the history of the place, it was so nice of him to take the time to share that with us. Even if you aren't staying there it is worth going in for lunch or drink and having a look at the beautiful architecture and drink in the history.

The holiday was to celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary. From the moment we arrived we were made very welcome with several little "touches" to make the occasion event more special. We can't thank hotel management and staff enough for their supreme efforts. Highly recommended and would travel and stay there again without any doubt.

This 140 year old hotel has to be one of the finest holiday destinations in this country. The Carrington has been beautifully restored after laying dormant and in disrepair for many years. We could not fault it in any way and the Devonshire Tea is the best we have ever had. The staff are very courteous and most helpful. We will be back. Congratulation to the management.

Rooms and whole hotel looking a little tired . Quite a few steps at the entrance . It has the noisiest floors of any hotel i have stayed in, quite endearing initially, but soon gets old. The lift is very small and old but safe you need it to get cases up and down as stairs can be difficult it looks like bathrooms have been upgraded , but makes rooms look more rundown as styles are very different. Age and quirkiness give it some charm.

A recent Winter stay was wonderful. Very comfortable room, except for bathroom which was literally freezing. No heating or heated towel rack. Hotel restaurant was good for dinner, although limited menu. The bar was lovely to sit in for a drink. If you enjoy history you will love this hotel.

We had a lovely 2 night stay in the hotel. The location is perfect and there is plenty of undercover parking. Our room was clean, spacious and had a fabulous view. We loved the period features of the hotel ,and there were some lovely cosy spots to curl up by the fire and relax and enjoy a drink from Champagne Charlies. The mulled wine was delicious. The only down side was the disappointing buffet breakfast service. Despite being in the dining room an hour before the end of the breakfast service, the platters were empty, and it seemed like too much trouble for the staff to keep them replenished. We weren't the only people left wondering if there would be any breakfast! Unlike most other hotels we frequent, we were also disappointed not to find any hot food included in the buffet. We actually cancelled our dinner in the Grand Dining room on our second night incase it was as disappointing as the breakfast service and went elsewhere, as well as finding another cafe for breakfast on our second morning.
That being said, the charm of the hotel is infectious and for those who love grand old world charm and atmosphere, I would highly recommend the Carrington Hotel.

Hotels in a perfect location with plenty of parking.
It's steeped with history and traditional decor
Lack of service was on breakfast - not all but some of the team but lacked any kind of customer service and / or politness.
Check in and out was positive
Bar staff were positive
Pity the breakfast team didn't perform

This is a 'real' hotel full of character. Grand dining hall, federation features, high ceilings, gardens.
And the staff are superb... just go. There are a few squeaky floorboards and old fittings but if you want pristine boutique with no character, don't come here and complain afterwards.
It is a GREAT place to stay ??'?

This was such a great place to stay, we had a birthday and stayed for 3 days, the staff were lovely and the rooms were great, the beds were comfy and came with a fridge, tv, kettle, ad everything else you need! We stayed in the balcony room and had a great view of the mountains and sunsets... the only down side were the cockatoos, but other than that the stay was wonderful!

Amazing location and gorgeous hotel and building. Unfortunately there was no air con and the heater had been left on so we were sweating! Still a lovely spot with great decor and in a fab location.

Whilst the barman was very obliging, the waitress that served our order to the table was obnoxious and when I spoke to the manager on duty, he defended the poor service which we thought was very unbecoming of a quality hotel. Overall it was very disappointing and the experience lacked professionalism and the level of customer service was rather poor for a hotel of it's calibre. We regret having purchased a gift voucher worth $600 and will warn the recipients of the quality of service they may expect to receive and recommended cancelling the voucher for a refund.

Fabulous Devonshire tea in beautiful surroundings

Excellent latte - strong but only slightly bitter, good round flavour. (Actually the only decent coffee I've had in the mountains).
Great scones and jam!

Highly recommend for outing with mum or girlfriend/s

(Note I didn't stay here so my rooms rating is only for the public rooms on ground floor)

They don't open for tea until 11am so I spent a lovely half an hour meandering through their grounds taking photos - the Spring blooms are just gorgeous

Currently staying at the Carrington and it is in a great spot. We are staying in one of the Premier View Rooms and it's very comfortable. Our room is however right next to the lift and being an old building it has an old lift which can be fairly noisy. If you plan on staying at the Carrington would suggest you request a room a little distance from the lifts. You will pay the same price but have a quieter and more enjoyable stay. Staff couldn't assist with an alternative room as they are apparently full up.
Update:::Another room has been found which is much appreciated. Thank you to management and staff for your understanding

We dropped in on a Sunday for lunch without a booking. The Carrington Grand Dining Room was closed, but their all day menu and being able to choose between dining tables near their bar, or quieter tables and chairs further away or outside tables at the front of the hotel was lovely. Our dishes were lovely, the menu while not large was diverse.

Can't get a better location in Katoomba than the Carrington Hotel. The hotel itself is beautiful. I was taken aback at how beautiful the old school charm was. I even took pics (and I don't take pics of inside hotels often). It's quiet special.

The rooms are very comfortable (even with no streaming services). Beds SUPER comfy. I stayed in the room with the bathroom down the hall. Don't let that put you off, as you still get your own toilet and shower and sink. Just a bit bright in the middle of the night when you do have to walk it. But it's not a problem really and saves you some serious cash. Therefore making a stay in the hotel affordable to those with less money (like myself, luckily ?)

Staff were lovely. I give this hotel 5/5.

We stayed for 4 nights in a Premier View Suite and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Staff were very welcoming and helpful. Our celebratory dinner was made even better with a complimentary bottle of wine to help celebrate our 50th Wedding Anniversary. Will definitely come back.

Superb dinner and exceptional service. They gave us free bubbles and an anniversary wish on my dessert plate. Where can you get those special touches that mean so much? Such a wonderful dinner, we will be back! Highly recommended for a memorable experience!

I've never stayed in a place like this before, its a beautiful old hotel with lots of character. Completely restored to resembled what it would have looked like in its early days with the modern touches required. The rooms are extremely spacious and fresh.

Once checked in, I made my way down to the lobby where there is a fire place and a series of different rooms which you can check out such as a pool room, a library, a bar, a big dinning room and little quite rooms where you can have a wine or enjoy a book.

The price was surprising inexpensive.

Old world charm, wonderful friendly staff, comfortable rooms - all true.

But what stood out was the dinner in the main dining room. The meal was superb. Best my wife and I have ever had in 50 years of travelling. The Chef has the magic - thank you for a true gastronomic experience.

Old world charm with exceptional quality. Attended a baby shower and high tea. The food was fresh with a great selection and table service was delightful.

The grounds and building are snuggly in the the main street - but its like a step back to an era steeped in history when you arrive.

Well worth the visit or stay - we definitely will be back to explore.

We didn't stay at the hotel but came by for some cocktails and damn, Holly made some magical cocktails. Excellent quality, we sampled 8 cocktails in total and every single one was balanced and delicious. It is rare to find quality cocktails and I'm thrilled to have come by! Thank you Holly!

Amazing atmosphere. I loved the decoration inside. It's like travelling in time. Staff were really friendly.
We spent one night there, on the traditional wing - meaning bathroom was at the end of the corridor, quite inconvenient but it was interesting. As it was as per the original hotel plan.
The only downside it was the continental breakfast, quite poor.

On our first night there was a big stain on the quilt made us feel very uncomfortable. The couldn't change it for us . We're told the Receptionist doesn't have the key to the house keeping room . The offer us another room for our second night. It was clean and comfortable. Never stay there again.
Hotel looks nice from out side .
Staff were helpful and friendly.

Loved our recent stay at the beautifully restored Carrington Hotel. Our room was warm, roomy and comfortable, all meals were lovely, and the staff welcoming and helpful. There is so much to see and explore in all the rooms of the Grand Old Lady....paintings, photos, treasures of all sorts. A glimpse into a former era, but with the comforts we have come to expect in our modern world. Thoroughly recommend a stay there in the coming winter months. Just full of atmosphere.......the magnificent dining room, Charlie's Bar, the old lift, the open fires to snuggle in front of with a wine or a coffee.

Loved the Carrington Hotel in winter. We got a spot by the fire place ??"? and had Devonshire teas which were quite good. If I stayed longer I would have got into some nice rich reds. Very popular on Sunday. Didn't stay overnight so can't rate the rooms.

Beautiful old hotel full of charm. The staff were super friendly and helpful especially organising dinner for a large group with no notice. It's nice when people understand your needs and just get things sorted! The continental breakfast was delicious and I liked the fact that hot food can be added if you so desire. Amenities were clean. Some feedback for the hotel - the rooms were super warm and difficult to cool down. I'm sure the cold blooded people would love this, but it did get to the point of needing a cold shower and fan in the middle of the night. Other than that, thanks for the lovely weekend.

Icon of The Blue Mountains History in Katoomba! I have always wanted to stay at this hotel, just to experience a bit of the past and this hotel does not disappoint. I felt I was back in time.
Our room had a balcony where the views of the mountains were fantastic the day we checked in and then in the morning with the mist lower that the top of the mountain. The gardens, all the original stained glass, the sitting (with open fire) and various rooms, the woodwork, the lift and everything made it a unique experience for me which was what I wanted. All the staff were lovely and attended to our needs. For me this was a very authentic stay at a very old historic building! Will be back!

What a way to be spoilt for Christmas! The atmosphere of the Hotel was amazing. The chefs deserve accolades for their meals, the fine dining was superb. Service was something out of yesteryear where you do not find in today's society, ( including piano player ), a credit to staff and management. Christmas is booked for next year.

A totally amazing experience. I took a lovely visitor from China to dinner here. She was almost swooning with the amazing piano playing, old world atmosphere, decor and excellent food.

Unfortunately I have to say that the food was not quite what I was expecting. I've booked dinner in the Grand Dining Room. Lovely place with a really nice decoration and friendly staff, however, the food is not quite what I would call a fine dining, although the price is definitely for a fine one. Had a 3 course meal and none of them was really tasty or worth the price. The whole experience is interesting but if you're going just for the food... maybe think twice.

Quite a grand Hotel with old world charm situated very conveniently in the main Street of Katoomba. The rooms have been beautifully refurbed, but the original style has been cleverly maintained. Great parking was available, something that I believe has been an issue in the past. But with the new under cover car park, that is still being given it's final touches, it provided ample and convenient off street parking. To the rear of the site (a seperate business I assume) was the Carrington Cellars (a cheese and wine/alcohol retail outlet) that is worth a browse just for the visual presentation, variety and display of their products.Close by are all three major supermarkets and a variety of retail outlets for essentials etc.Something to note is that typical of old buildings the Hotel Carrington's floor boards were quite squeaky both on the stairs as well as in our room. They were particularly squeaky close to our room bedside. It was a bit annoying, but was it a deal breaker? No definitely not, but it is something to keep in mind if this is something that would bother you at a Hotel of this standard and price range. The continental breakfast included as part of the accommodation provided was an adequate and filling breakfast, without the need for the purchase of a full hot breakfast. The ground floor lounge was a very comfortable area just off the Champagne Charlie's Cocktail Bar area, which had an open fire and was a lovely spot for Devonshire tea or Bar Snacks in the evening. There was a small more intimate lounge just inside the Champagne Charlie's Cocktail Bar entry archway, that was available for use by in-house guests. It would probably only accommodate 4-5 guests but provided a pleasant more personal space to sit, drink and indulge in the Bar menu offerings.Another area to relax in was the Billiards Room. Although we had no need to make use of this area, it would have provided a comfortable common location and retreat to sit and read etc.
