Quite a grand Hotel with old world charm situated very conveniently in the main Street of Katoomba. The rooms have been beautifully refurbed, but the original style has been cleverly maintained. Great parking was available, something that I believe has been an issue in the past. But with the new under cover car park, that is still being given it's final touches, it provided ample and convenient off street parking. To the rear of the site (a seperate business I assume) was the Carrington Cellars (a cheese and wine/alcohol retail outlet) that is worth a browse just for the visual presentation, variety and display of their products.Close by are all three major supermarkets and a variety of retail outlets for essentials etc.Something to note is that typical of old buildings the Hotel Carrington's floor boards were quite squeaky both on the stairs as well as in our room. They were particularly squeaky close to our room bedside. It was a bit annoying, but was it a deal breaker? No definitely not, but it is something to keep in mind if this is something that would bother you at a Hotel of this standard and price range. The continental breakfast included as part of the accommodation provided was an adequate and filling breakfast, without the need for the purchase of a full hot breakfast. The ground floor lounge was a very comfortable area just off the Champagne Charlie's Cocktail Bar area, which had an open fire and was a lovely spot for Devonshire tea or Bar Snacks in the evening. There was a small more intimate lounge just inside the Champagne Charlie's Cocktail Bar entry archway, that was available for use by in-house guests. It would probably only accommodate 4-5 guests but provided a pleasant more personal space to sit, drink and indulge in the Bar menu offerings.Another area to relax in was the Billiards Room. Although we had no need to make use of this area, it would have provided a comfortable common location and retreat to sit and read etc.
