Our family had a get together on 14th December for 30 people, Hannah our bar person was great and friendly ( turns out some of us knew her and her family) the other wait staff were great too . The meals came out in good time , hot and tasty. I personally had porterhouse schnitzel ( cut with butter knife,so tender). Well done to the hotel and staff. Our group all said fantastic venue

We had a group of 16 ladies attend for lunch last week. Unfortunately all of us were disappointed.

The main problem was that meals came out in groups of what was ordered eg. all fried halloumi came out together, then 20 minutes later fish came, then 20 minutes later AB bowls etc. then about an hour later, from the first dishes, came the roasts.

Unfortunately the roast lamb had weird chemically looking green bits in it. The colour was so off putting. Staff said it was parsley or garlic but none of us have ever seen that toxic looking colour on food ever.

One lady couldn't eat the roast at all so they took it away with no offer of any compensation. That's just not good enough.

The halloumi was cut way too thinly so it got cold and rubbery quickly.

Its a shame because we need a great pub like this to excel.

My husband surprised me with a party for my birthday with a number of our closest friends and family. The Blackie's staff made sure we all enjoyed ourselves. Food is awesome (bread & butter knife only needed for Lemon Pepper Squid!) and the staff really care that we all had a great time. Live music on a Sunday from 2pm is a real draw card.
This venue is perfect for casual or special occasions, pet and kid friendly, wallet-friendly too!!

Friendly staff make you feel welcome. Meals are generous and cooked to perfection. If it's busy (usually is Friday and Saturday and Lunchtimes) be prepared to wait 20-30 mins for your meal. This is a popular place for Defence workers to visit for a celebratory lunch. The selection of Ales in the bar make this a special place. One of my favourite places to eat in my area.. There's been a change of owner but it's been painted and some of the memerobilia has gone so the atmosphere has changed. However the the gas fire was going and made it feel welcoming at a meal on a Monday evening. The food was a good as ever.

This place has such a great atmosphere, the staff and patrons are warm and inviting. Feels like a family.
Lamb Ragu Cottage Pie...hands down, without a doubt, the best pie I've ever had. I've never had a bad meal here.
