Had a lovely evening dinner here. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. The food was excellent. Lamb back strap cooked perfectly, steaks were cooked to perfection and the schnitzel was most and tasty. Desserts were like they were homemade.

My family and I visit this establishment at lest twice a month and we'd like to see lamb shanks on the menu during winter, the amount of chips on the plate are getting less and less, so stop being stingy and load it up! and finally proper garlic bread,

A friend and I had dinner and drinks here last Saturday evening. Lovely drinks and good service. We ordered steaks, one rump steak, and a steak sandwich. Very disappointed with the steaks as they were very tough. The rest of the food was very nice. In my opinion, the steaks were well below the standard that they should be..

Great welcoming from Milly at the reception. Accommodated a change of table and special dietary requirements. The food is greatly prepared and served. Shame that the entrance door is so close that we got that freezing draft every time someone was coming in or out.

Got turned away from entry as a mid 30's (and looking older) male because he didn't think I was old enough. Provided old licence and display of passport but was still denied entry. Distinctive beard made it pretty clear they were my ID.
Strangely, was never an issue in the past, even late at night, so must be a change of policy. Will go elsewhere from now on...

Also, really wouldn't have been to much of an issue if the security guard wasn't smug about it either. He seemed keen to get back to his phone though...

You can't go wrong with the Express lunch at the Blackburn Hotel. Great value, perfect size for lunch. But I'd avoid the QR ordering - it's a bit glitchy.

Not a bad place , bit overpriced for the food , good gaming venue, friendly staff....

Edit , I thought I give the grill bar bisto part ago today, The service was great friendly warm welcomed. The chefs seem like they knew what their doing ,but it was just all looks , I was impressed how well the food looked until I tried it , it was very chewy and dried like its been cooled down and reheated , The meals are up there in price so I expect it to be good but it was far from it, Fair to say I won't be coming back to the bistro part. Also what was pretty disappointing is that they had a decent range of steaks to choose from but don't have garlic butter,

I would expect most places to be rather busy so expectations aren't as high.

Lets start with the positive...Staff were very polite & worked consistently the whole time.

Food: Let's treat dad & go in with a " who cares what it costs, order whatever you like special occasion kinda vibe, (keeping in mind we are at a local pub bistro & not a proper restaurant).
We ordered Scallops & the fish off the "chefs special" menu.
Now either it's a chef with a joker hat on or they need to go back and learn the craft again.... never had worse Scallops in my life, as far as the fish went.... I'm not sure what sauce was supposed to compliment it but it seems as if it was squeezed straight from a bottle of JIF.
Vegetables that accompanied the parmigiana were burnt, soggy & undercooked all at the same time. Impressive... but for all the wrong reasons.

Leaving on a positive note the steak & schnitzel we're good....

Extremely disappointing experience overall.

Decided to go out for a pub meal with the family but in hindsight we wish we didn't go.

There is no real service to speak of and what little service there is, is of a quite curt and uninterested nature.

We got there and had no one welcome us or show us to our table, when we were sitting down a woman hurried past and quite rudely stated "the kitchen closes in one hour so you better order quickly".

We weren't given any menus or anything and instead had to find a QR code scanner that didn't work (page would timeout on all devices)

After walking to the counter to order they pointed to the menus and told us to pick them up and come back to order.

After doing so we had to wait at the bar for 5 mins for someone to come and take our order.

The food came quickly but was obviously frozen as the fish and chips were very bland and had no flavour at all. The chicken Schnitzel was very dry and hard and also lacked flavour.

The ribs looked juicy and tender but sadly despite being tender the sauce lacked any flavour and just tasted like Heinz barbeque sauce.

We asked for some condiments like tobacco or chilli flakes and after 5 mins we were told they didn't have any.

Food was very pricey for the serving size and quality of food as well

I definitely wouldn't go back here, an extremely disappointing experience and not one that I would recommend to anyone.

Nice pub, even though I miss the original. Food is good but very pricey. Sports bar would be better without the damn TAB.
Oh! I wish it had an outdoor fresh area to sit, eat and enjoy drinks with friend and family without having to breathe in vile cigarette smoke 🤮🤢

I recently had the pleasure of visiting the Blackburn Hotel , a local bar and restaurant near my town, and I must say, it was an outstanding experience from start to finish. I would wholeheartedly give it a five-star rating for several reasons.

First and foremost, the ambiance of the place was incredible. As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by a warm and inviting atmosphere. The decor was tastefully done, creating a cozy and relaxed environment. If your looking for a casual night out with friends, this place has it all.

The food was absolutely delicious. The bar area was also impressive. The bartenders were skilled and creative, they were friendly and engaging, making sure everyone at the bar felt welcome.

In terms of pricing, I found the bar and restaurant to offer excellent value for the quality of service and food provided. The portion sizes were generous, and the prices were reasonable considering the overall experience.

Lastly, I would like to mention the cleanliness and attention to detail throughout the establishment. The bar and restaurant were impeccably maintained, and the restrooms were spotless. It's evident that the management takes great pride in ensuring a clean and hygienic environment for their guests.

Overall, I cannot recommend this bar and restaurant enough. From the fantastic ambiance and attentive staff to the delicious food and wide drink selection, everything was top-notch. If you're looking for a memorable dining experience, this place is a definite winner. I will surely be returning and bringing friends along to share in the delight.

We ordered 4 mains, 2 of which were the incorrect meals when they came out. Staff were apologetic and shouted my friends a free drink. That of course didn't change the fact that we'd well and truly finished our meals by the time they got theirs. Then we ordered the salted caramel cake for dessert x 2, and coffees. I queried the price of $7 for a coffee and dessert (dessert was $12 on the menu) but was told it was part of a coffee and cake deal. Sadly the dessert that arrived bore no resemblance to the dessert with hot fudge and hazelnut crumble that I had physically pointed to on the menu when ordering(I specifically pointed it out because, at first, when I asked for salted caramel cake I was asked if I meant sticky date pudding. Um no, I can read). Anyway, it was getting late so we let it go, but really. I had organised the dinner with friends and it was just embarrassing being somewhere that can only get 2 out if 6 meals correct. It wasn't overly busy, so staff to customer ratios wasn't an issue. Checking the menu now online, it is very different to the hard copy we were given last night, which might explain things. Anyway, that's our experience so next year's winter solstice catch up will be somewhere else, by special request of our friends.

Real good. Did my steak perfectly. Lovely place for families, and there's a bar with pool tables for the social crowd. A little loud but depends on when you go. Fairly priced, and you get a discount if you have a particular employer.

I'd recommend for a simple night out.

Good size meal - 2 courses for $18 -good value. Pity the chicken schnitzel was dripping in oil and the lamb roast was tough, albeit tasty. The mars bar cake was amazing.

One of the worst restaurant services I have come across. Had to sit for 30 minutes for my order to come. When I decided to walk out and ask for a refund, I was initially told my order didn't go through, then I was told it will be ready in 5 mins. Being from Mumbai, India I ordered the Bombay Prawns , which were useless, tasteless except for the dippings. I ordered Barramundi in the main course. Fish was grilled but no salt, mo pepper and a few oranges thrown in.Better not to go back there.

We have celebrated the Hardly Normal Christmas party every year at The Blackburn for the last 5 years - and every wheat they have been accommodating, kind and thoughtful enough to ensure our needs are met. Highly recommend the onion rings & thankful they make double vodka & sodas now. See you next year, team.

Service and staff are friendly and very lovely, the environment and atmosphere was great, we had dinner the meals where small servings considering the prices, and chips where over cooked so but crunchy, probably wouldn't go for tea again but would go for drinks and a catch up with mates in the beer garden which was also great

Honestly, far better than I expected from reading some of the other reviews. The staff were friendly and the atmosphere was pleasant. Some dishes, like the fish and chips and the chicken schnitzel were decently sized, however, some pricey meals like the barramundi were a bit skimpy considering the price. Regardless of the portion sizes, the food itself is very delicious! Overall, a pretty good pub.

Perfectly cooked steak and generous size wines. Can't really go wrong with either of those! They've had a bit of a re-branding but not much has changed. Still a very decent local pub with very decent food.

Had a few beers in the Sports Bar watching the Olympics. Races and tote also in there too. All good.

Upon entry I was pleasantly surprised by the renovations, decor and ambience. The open plan layout was well thought out with areas clearly defined. The menu had some nice food offerings. Staff were very nice and service was very good.
