Sara, one of the food and beverage attendees, was every polite and made us feel welcome. Always checked in to make sure we were comfortable. The food was amazing. I definitely will be eating there again. 😊

I attended a funeral wake which was held here on Thursday morning 20th June 2024. Everyone seemed happy with the food that was provided and also the drinks from the bar. The staff were friendly and helpful.

We did the Christmas Buffet lunch. Buffet food was amazing. The Christmas set up was awesome. The Staff were incredibly helpful and happy. Santa also came and gave out super cool gifts to each kid. Highly recommend booking in if looking for a Christmas lunch out!!

I had a Christmas get together with my friends. Great lunch, lamb shank was melt in the mouth. Service was excellent, staff really looked after us.
My only other comment was that the cocktail list was a bit short and not very interesting. Maybe a few more choices around Christmas time.

Came up from Townsville with my son for a basketball game. Found the hotel to be very secure & spacious. Hotel is close to city & will now make it an annual boys trip & stay at the Bala. Highly recommend & the pub food was delicious

Food was very good 😊 love my steak 🥩 tender and that's how I like and so as my family did with their meal. Was my birthday last night came there with my family to have a quite and relaxing night until the management start raising her voice to the other two female staff members wasn't pleasant at all when I had my young daughters aged 8 and 10 year old with us. Wasn't happy at all. To the young girl who served us thank you so much for your brilliant service and always smiling 😊 keep up the good work girl. Sorry didn't get your name 🙏🏽

We hold training seminars at the Balaclava twice a year and they never fail to impress. Great team and great place to hold you meetings or seminars. The food platters are excellent and the staff are great. Look forward to the next one!

Looking for a local place on a Tuesday night we stopped by for a late dinner expecting normal pub fare. Meeting us at the door immediately after entering, a personable young man named George greeted us with a welcoming smile and brought us to our table. Joanne and I always sit next to each other no matter the venue anywhere in the world. George made that happen without a problem.

I mentioned that we might like a steak but our experiences with local pubs was such that we would usually choose as I said, typical pub fare. George in this case assured us that steaks at Balaclava are the exception. So, with that in mind we ordered one 200 gram Fillet and one 400 gram Rump steak done rare/medium rare. Along with that we requested a bottle of Cabernet Savignon from the Coonamara district and we were hungry and ready to eat.

To our surprise both steaks were done as ordered, salad greens were fresh and chips were crisp as they should be.

The place was clean, neat and well lit. All the staff members were busy and the atmosphere was pleasant. Cudos to the management for a well run establishment. We will be returning.

We have always been very happy with the friendly, helpful staff & service at The Balaclava. Our family has many significant events held there from our Dad & Mum's wakes & Christmas family get-togethers & recently my sister's 80th Birthday lunch. Thank you for your service.

Online ordering was super easy (could even add my discount) laughter of kids is amazing great sports Bar (including a pool table) and fantastic staff!

Genuine review. The rooms were great but every now and again it would create a wierd smell from probably the cleaning products. Service is there when you need it. You all ways past the hotel when trying to find it because the sign is not facing the ideal way but everything else was perfect.

Stayed across the road from here its a good modern pub. I had 2 meals here the ribs and a steak sandwich both were good meals and the steak sandwich is large although the ribs need more sauce

The food is amazing, same with service. Was honestly really surprised at the quality of their food and service being in the location it is. The lamb shank from there I crave every week. Also very family friendly. This place is very underrated, in my opinion beats all the taverns in Northside even.

Stopped in for lunch and a bevo. Ordered online. Easy as. You are better off doing it this way as can view huge selection of chefs specials. Meals came out together and didn't have to wait long. Very reasonably priced. Cold drinks. Clean and tidy restaurant and after meal, waiter offered glass of water. Great service. Will definitely be back. 11 out of 10.

Staff great, food ordinary, but only one option of viewing the menu and paying for my food was via an App. I don't keep bank or credit card details on my phone, so I won't be back.

Do not like using thr phone app order. Would much prefer to walk up to the counter or bar to place my order and pay. Had a late meal and drink. The food was nice.

This accommodation is amazing!!, Great and friendly staff with a great respect for each and every person they come in contact with 😁. The room is a great feel, Feels like a home being away from home. Very comfortable beds, rooms are very clean and spacious. Sitting area at the back court yard of room is awesome gives an area for the children to play in. I could not fault the experience at Balaclava Hotel not one bit. Food is excellent well worth your dollars and awesome to have a variety of meals to pick from. A very well & secure establishment feel so safe and at peace with the locked gates.

Great place! First time visiting and we loved it. Great kids room, excellent food. Friendly service. Nice and quick meals too! Love the table ordering via the app ??'?🏼 Excellent for fast paced families. Only thing was some of the games in the kids room were broken but that's nothing compared to the great service. Will definitely return when we're back in town.

Love this place!! When we come to cairns, it's the only place we stay. We plan our trip around their vacancies. Winan is the most helpful and pleasant staff member that stands out and always has a friendly smile on his face! The rest of the staff are just as lovey too, of course 😊. Great food! Great food and even better service! Wynan is most welcoming & helpful, always with a smile. Not to forget other staff, they too are friendly and accommodating every time we visit. Can't fault ordering system, it's simple and easy. Staff always offering assistance when seating patrons and helping when needed.

Food was great. Bar service in the restaurant was great. However, rude service in the sports bar from a guy who made sure you knew he didn't want to be there. BUT you HAVE TO do the scan and order on your phone AND THEN you get hit with a fee for using a system that we didn't want to use in the first place. Will be thinking twice before I go back due to this!

Very disappointing!!!! Went for dinner last night. Shocked to be greeted with an online app ordering and payment option ONLY.... we were 2 minutes early, so couldn't even view the menu!!!! Also really fun having 6 people try to pick a meal on 1x small phone!!! Really impersonal and horrid!!! Don't forget the fact that we were charged an additional $2.05 for a payment surcharge!!! What a rort!!!
Food was expensive and very low quality.... Roast of the day for our senior parent was more like minute steak cooked to an old boot level, Schnitzel parmy had a tiny smear of tomato paste and cold ham/cheese on the top - not even close to being melted..... The only saving grace was the lovely waitress Kate as she was most apologetic and understanding. We will not be back!!! Avoid!!!!

All in all the night cost us nearly $150 and nobody was happy with their meal

Fantastic food and huge portions. My family ate the seafood platter and said it was beautifully fresh and tasty. It came out so quickly too. Less than 15 min from ordering, 5 items were at our table!

I had a totally delicous dinner tonight and the food came out quickly as well. All of your staff out front are very friendly, and shout out to your chefs for preparing great food. Kim served us our meals and she is an asset to your team. Thankyou!!

Hotel stay -
Tidy & clean place to stay. Modern facilities and super friendly staff. Didn't enjoy the thin walls however, could hear our neighbour on several occasions. Enjoyed the SMART TV function with Netflix & YouTube easily accessible. Daily room service was great. Very budget friendly.

Food -
Great good. Awesome staff. Love the playground area for the kiddies. Clean facilities & food came out shortly after ordering. Would recommend to friends & family.

Went out for birthday meal with family. Food was fantastic with big servings and what we didn't finish was put into a container to bring home and the dog had the bones. Kids loved the play area while we waited for our meals. I would highly recommend this restaurant for a night out with family and friends. ❤

The lamb shanks was steeped in red wine and rosemary sauce and, as the menu promised, it melted in my mouth. Beautifully cooked and served. Lamb shanks is a favourite of mine.
I had the 500g rump steak the other night, medium and cooked to perfection. The chef obviously cooks meat dishes with great respect to the animals we have sacrificed for our food. On a whim I ordered the pecan pie, and I scored the last one for the night. A yummy, crunchy, wicked treat with ice cream. I've never actually had pecan pie before.
What always counts is service and the staff at Graziers in the Balaclava are wonderful. They are welcoming, warm and genuine about making your dining experience a good one. They treated me as if I was a much loved regular. Thank you.
I only live around the corner from the Balaclava and I don't swing by anywhere near enough. I shall.

We went to the restaurant. They have a play room for the kids. Everyone had a great time and the food is great. Steak always cooked to perfection. Great service.

As I am a local I have seen and been to most hotel and the Balaclava has been the best. The people are friendly you can see that the employees love there work the service great and the food very tasty. Complements to the chief and Kerri.

I have never had a bad experience at the balaclava, rooms are great, bar and food service.. Awesome. Food, every single meal has been amazing. And the staff are brilliant but gotta say, old mate Nick, is the reason I wright this review. Way he takes that extra few seconds to chat and joke makes the stay that much more enjoyable.
