Great pub had a quick stop for lunch. Quiet atmosphere & prompt service.

Haven't been there for over a year,,food was great last time I visited

Can't believe I haven't reviewed these guys yet! Firstly, what's not to love! I've been going to this Pub for over 10 years now. Mostly for the Bistro but also as a part of a local Pool Associaton, to play pool, socialise & have a few drinks.

These guys are great!! From the very friendly bar service, cleanliness of all areas, including toilets...right through to their absolutely amazing Pub Grub! ? ?

They've more recently renovated the back area, off the Bistro... to include a Wood Fired Pizza area with awesome kids inhouse playground wonderland. Whilst it can get a bit noisy with excited little ones running around playing...that's what it's there for right lol & honestly the rest of what this Pub has to offer, still makes it a very worthwhile place to frequent!

Great food, family friendly, very busy but no delays in food or drink. Staff are great. Will go there again.

New decor and restaurant arrangement and still a very good place to visit. Excellent food. Nice staff.

Beautiful food nice place relaxing atmosphere. Staff friendly. Has everything going for it.

Not the worst pub I've drank In.

Only complaint:the chef always packs it in early.

Always loved this pub great food and usually good service although took my 6 year old out for dinner tonight misheard the girl at the bar whilst trying to get my daughter a drink and was met with a very erratic over the top rudeness maybe shouldn't have told her to calm the f down but really did not appreciate being spoken to like a degenerate especially when I was polite to begin with!

I went there for dinner with my wife we both had the ribs they were melt in your mouth. Food,beer and service top notch thankyou.

the food was great! the staff there had excellent service especially the blonde girl making my food. love it !

What a great location for a meal and a drink. The service is very good at the bistro and bar and staff are very efficient. Great menu and drink selection is great location for family and friends.

We went for dinner. They have an amazing gluten free range of food, including coeliac. Would recommend for a great feed and drink.

Yummy food, staff are always helpful and will drop what they're doing to serve you a nice cold crisp beer!!
When the beer is that clean and crisp you can be forgiven for skipping lunch ?

Travelled up from Sydney and stumbled across this gem. Great food, big portions and the host was absolutely delightful. Love it, would come back

Portion sizes massive, food was classic pub food. Staff were friendly and attentive. Great dinner spot whilst staying in the area

Confusing and lengthy checkin. Basic room with comfortable bed and great sheets. Two of the three toilets had no toilet paper. False fire alarms went off twice during the night. So we weren't impressed with cleaning (?) staff yelling out and waking us about 6. One tea cup provided in common room for all guests. Could probably do better.

Stopped on recent day trip after lunch plans had changed, so extremely happy we picked The Australian as a replacement lunch stop....was a Saturday lunch time reasonably busy but meals arrived extremely quick and drinks were ice cold and to top it off we eat out on the newly opened back deck area with a virtually fully enclosed kids play area for kidlets and multiple TV's showing multiple sports and racing channel....we had an Awesome time.

Went for dinner and enjoyed the meal. Menu not overboard, just right right amount of options. Outside seating was great and the play area for kids which my granddaughter loved. Keen to go back for another meal and a drink.

Food was fantastic and really well priced. Were very accommodating to our table of 8. Very comfortable and well laid out internally

Fabulous. So good the first night we went, we went back the next. Food delicious and generous servings. Staff cheery and very helpful. Highly recommend a must stop.

Far from enjoyable experience. Felt very unwanted. Now cooking sausages at home for dinner instead :(

Country pub with pool table, TAB and bistro. Food is average (lower end of pub food) and staff do their job but not very chatty or overly friendly. It felt like a burden when we were being served. Was it because we're not locals, or is that their normal selves. I feel like when you thrive on people holidaying in your area (come on Cessnock, we're all Australia bound for our 2020/2021holidays), you need to be friendly and encourage people to talk about your town in a positive way).

The mash potatoes was dry and crumbly (not creamy at all), the veg, some parts where cold, and very watery and plain (no flavour and death by boil/steam). The actual chicken schnitzel and gravy where delicious. Chips are good too!

My husband had the barramundi and enjoyed it and the veg. My brother had a t-bone, chips and veg/salad. He wasn't impressed at all. My sister in-law had prawns on her schnitzel with mash and veg, she was also not impressed with the mash and veg, or the prawns.

Really enjoyed this pub. The staff are really friendly and helpful. The pub is very clean throughout. Great selection of beers good sized outdoor area as well as a section for smokers. It also has a restaurant section with a good menu and daily specials. I gave the Aussie works burger a go (without pineapple, of course) and give it 74/100.

3 of us went to the Aussie for lunch and weren't disappointed. It was absolutely beautiful. The lady behind the bar was so lovely and helpful. I don't know her name but she was the Covid19 Marshall. We will definitely return.

Friendly staff, large pub portions and tasty too. Great selection of local HV wines.COVID martial on site and was great to see everyone social distancing. Felt like a safe place to be during this time.
