After a long week, what better place, to catch up with long time friends then at a dumpling house with great food, good selection of drinks (wines and beers etc) and great 80/90's hip hop and rap with the occasional splash of older and new classic beats! The dumplings may be more expensive and currently a reduced offering than your usual yum cha venue, but the venue makes up for it with its laid back style. Always a favourite!

This little dim sum place was sensational!!!!!! I loved the dim sums. Everything we ordered was perfect!! The service and hospitality was exceptional with the lovely waitress making sure we received a table even though the restaurant was full. This little place is a must for anyone visiting Sydney! I look forward to dining there again. An absolutely pleasurable experiences for the senses :-)

Best place for dumplings! Perfect location near the Grace hotel as well. Service was fantastic and catered to vegans. Highly reccomend their Pork BBQ bun, super fluffy! And the fried rice. Everything was just perfect.

Went in for lunch and got a selection of dishes including haw gow, pork buns, numbing chicken, fried rice, prawn toast etc. Food was ok and flavours werent too bad at all, pretty much comparable to food found at any other Chinese / yum cha restaurant (only difference was the steep prices and attitude of one of the servers.... the one wearing glasses). The food was actually quite expensive for what was served in my opinion. You could go to literally anywhere in Chinatown, Burwood, Bankstown, Cabramatta, Canley Vale etc for a comparable if not better overall feed and experience. This place will get my 3 as the food was ok, but overall it did not impress me in the slightest.

Absolutely loved my experience at Work in Progress! The variety of dumplings is impressive, each bursting with unique flavours. Cozy ambience and friendly staff make it a go-to spot for dumpling enthusiasts. Can't wait to go back for another dumpling feast!

Fun vibe with a good 90s & 00s hip-hop playlist. Nice food - particularly the "hot numbing chicken" & "salt n pepper chicken wings". Good for a casual dinner & catch up.

Amazingly flavoursome food. Everything we ordered tickled our tastebuds and filled our hungry tummy's. Some may not be used to the prices but it's well worth it! Scallop and Prawn Dumplings are fire! ??"?

$38 for these dumplings that were seriously meh, the spinach one had a funny texture a bit like pond fibre. Most of the other dishes were small portions, very average, and $$$. Atmosphere like a uni bar.

We had the scallop and prawn dumplings, pork shumai and prawn toast. All of it was very good. Well presented and tasty. One of the members of staff also came to chat to us about my nut allergy to make sure everything was okay. We will definitely be coming back!

Very average food and overpriced in my opinion. Menu is tiny and more really of a snack option or quick bite to eat rather than a nice dinner. Tried a couple of times now but will avoid going back

Very cool bar serving up delicious dumplings and other Chinese classics, and great drinks menu.

Delicious food with a few vegan options! A bit pricey for pretty small portions though and the music was so loud it was hard to talk. But the atmosphere and decor was really nice :)

The ambient was really good and the food was also really tasty. However the portions were small, mainly considering their price.

Good place to come in a larger group setting so you can try multiple things. It's almost like yum cha but not. The vibe of the place was almost like a modern, artsy, alternative white washed "Chinese" bar. There were all these retro posters/artworks on the walls, almost like you were in a London graffiti tunnel. The seats were quite tightly packed in and it was a little difficult to get around!

This is a merivale restaurant, so expect merivale prices - the serving sizes were quite small (and most dishes were dumplings, so best to come in a group of 4, or multiples of 4). I tried the scallop and prawn shu mai, prawn har gau, wild mushroom dumpling, chicken and chive dumpling, and the cuttlefish fried rice. Apparently the pork xiao long baos were also quite nice, but the steamed buns weren't popular amongst the group!

The staff were super friendly and on it with the water refills and serving speed. The food was good, but serving size (relative to price) was probably a bit small / expensive (particularly the fried rice!)

$50 for 4 dumplings and 6 little fried entree pieces. Tasted fine but not worth $50.

The food portions were so small, I was a bit disappointed- especially for the price you pay. The ambiance was very nice tho and I would potentially come back for drinks! The service was also great.

Nice dumplings and cool environment. Didn't like the beef dish and rice from wok as much as the dumplings though. Service super friendly but inexperienced and two staff almost knocked over my 9 month old daughter who was very visible in a high chair on to the concrete floor below, one lock was so much that it made her cry. so very careless, dangerous and I certainly won't be taking my child there again.

Dim sum was fresh and tasty; just I found it a bit hard to justify the price I was paying.

This is a brilliant restaurant. The food is perfect ... tastes fantastic and well presented. The service is friendly and efficient. On a busy night the plave has a great vibe. I've eaten at a Michelin star dumpling restaurant in Hong Kong, and more recently Mr Wongs in Sydney and Melbourne. WIP beats all in terms of value for money and experience.

This is definitely worth a visit! Everything we ordered was delicious. The vegetarian dumplings are really unique. The food comes out fast so ideal for a quick lunch. The staff are really friendly. You order on a tablet so it's fast and no waiting around for waiters. It's really expensive for dumplings but worth the experience.

Funky space with the graffiti pop art decor and hanging lanterns, creating a laid back yet buzzing atmosphere. Simple menu with speedy service. The dumplings were great but the pork buns were fantastic and the star of the menu in my opinion. Don't normally like pork buns but these were the exception! Plenty of tasty filling.
Great place for a quick lunch meet up or after work hang out. I'll certainly go back.
