Would have given you 4 stars. But one of the dishes that we order 'Crispy Pork Belly Stir Fry' was below average and it was ordered first and came out last that other meals were about to finish. Cutleries were quite dirty even though they were new in the package.
Apart from that, one of the girls found us a table as all the tables were booked out.

We ate there on a Saturday evening, very friendly staff especially the young girl who took the orders. Everything was delicious even if the cuisine is simple but well made with fresh products and well-proportioned plates. Despite the crowd we were served very quickly. My chicken escalope was tender and soft and my vegetables perfect.
I don't have an opinion on the rooms because I haven't stayed there.

The Albert Hotel has a limited vegetarian menu but last night I discovered the off-menu falafel ball spaghetti. I was a bit sceptical about the clash of cultural flavours but the dish was delicious. The Napoli sauce was a bit sparse but rich in taste. To make it even better, a good drizzle of oil and a sprig of broccoli would make it my regular go-to. The vegetarian pizza is also excellent but if you don't like pineapple, request no pineapple as it sneaks into the toppings even though it's not listed in the ingredients.
The Albert staff are always friendly and the atmosphere is welcoming.
We enjoyed dining in the outdoor area in the warm glow of the new heaters.

Ate dinner here a few times last week whilst visiting local friends; the meals were top notch with staff saying the chicken schnitzels and parmies are handmade by the local butchers next door, then cooked to perfection and served w genuine country hospitality. The pizzas were also great. Good selection of wines. Thanks Albert Hotel, I'll be back!

Spent 3 nights in this lovely heritage hotel . Friendly staff, rooms and bathrooms very clean with a homely feel . Food in the bistro was the best , highly recommend the Parmy , but really everything looked great . Our kids loved the pizzas. Definitely check in to the Monto either for a stay or a meal and bevy .

Stopped in on the bikes for lunch on way from Mackay to Mt Perry.
Meals are great, reasonably priced. Beers are cold.
Old school Aussie pub dining area with a large undercover outside area also.
Worth dropping off the highway for a feed or a drink on your way thru Monto.

Visited Monto for the Silk Rags Project play. Had dinner & lunch over the weekend. The service was great & the meals were of a high standard with plenty of variety. Recommended.

Absolutely fantastic Pub. A large group of us stayed Saturday Night and can't recommend the Albert Hotel more. The best service, accommodation and food we have had at a country pub in years but don't take our word for it just get out there and see for yourself. The staff are absolutely fantastic and a special thanks to Laura. Will definitely be back. Cheers

The food, service and people are wonderful here. The outdoor area is bit like indoor, very nice and spacious. Dog friendly too. Events and music held here at times, great place to hire for gatherings. Indoor dining too, and a public bar. Historic building. Kids play area included.

What a great hotel in a great town. Rooms classic old pub style opening up onto the verandah, comfy bed, very clean. Room 9 close to the shared 'amenities'. Fantastic meals, steak was excellent. Shout out to Meg and Riley who are the friendliest and most helpful staff. The town has a welcoming vibe, everyone is friendly and happy.

We stayed and had dinner mid week. Would definitely recommend.

Staff were friendly and welcoming. The rooms had a comfy bed that opened up to the wide veranda. The showers were hot and good pressure.

We had the rib on the bone and calamari, both were delicious. We ate in the beer garden which was lovely.

Make sure you take a walk around town and check out the murals.

Stopped in Monto and wanted to get lunch, happened to pop in to Albert Hotel. Was happy to find food, the whole town was quiet on weekend and realized that everyone is at the bar counter and inside Albert Hotel having their lunch. Great food, nice atmosphere and having outdoor seating to enjoy the food. Great service too! ??'???'?

The new beer garden is brilliant.

Went here for dinner at 6:00 ordered well tried to order at 6:15 to be told there was no chicken schnitzel, well no chicken-of any kind no veggies no mashed potato .
Fair fair it is a small country town but surely better food management would work . Cook fresh !!!

Stopped at the Albert because I was too tired to continue driving on my trip north, rang ahead and got a room there.

The tomahawk steak was absolutely amazing, not only was the steak huge, but it was also perfectly cooked, in fact it's the best steak I've ever had.

Looking around the restaurant there wasn't a bad option on the menu though so I don't think it mattered what you decided to eat.

Rooms are a good size, beds are comfy and their towels alone are worth the stay.

The two guys and the girl working behind the bar that night were really friendly and happy to share the history of the town and have a yarn, and quite frankly I can't wait to go back.

We had 3 evening meals there over an extremely busy long weekend. They did an amazing job and the food and service was really great. Highly recommend this pub in the great town of Monto.

As a Google Guide I would usually only report on one accommodation facility in a town. However in this case I will make my comparison between two hotels in Monto. I checked into a room at Monto's Grand Hotel and wishing to watch sport on TV I asked staff in both the lounge and the bar to activate the TVs. I was fobbed off with the excuse there was no signal because of the rain. I therefore visited the Albert Hotel, 100m up the street and was welcomed to watch TV in either the Bar or the lounge. The staff were also happy to show me the accommodation facilities even though I didn't intend to stay.

The room and facilities at the Grand were clean and basic but I would describe the hotel as "tired". By comparison the Albert, of similar vintage, appeared "fresh". From my brief encounter the Grand's staff were "grumpy' and unhelpful whilst those at the Albert were enthusiastic and helpful. The Albert provided free WiFi but not the Grand. The Grand was closed and all locked up before 10pm whilst the Albert was still trading when I departed.

If you come to Monto make sure you stop in for a meal at this pub!

The food is amazing (hot tip steak is great as too is the chicken penne), staff so helpful and happy (must be all the good food 😉) and amenities all very clean.

The Albert Hotel is undergoing fairly extensive upgrades - airconditioning to the rooms, TV's, new timber decking, external repaint and so on. There is a way to go, but it is a work in progress. They are very busy with regard to accommodation and it is usually necessary to book ahead. The rooms are still quite 'dated', but are clean and comfortable - Monto is after all a small country town. We have stayed here a couple of times and the rustic pub located centrally has been a good experience. The meals are very good, with a good menu and very affordable. Happy hour in the afternoons gets you $5 schooners!

Best accommodation I've ever stayed in! The rooms were flawlessly clean. I love that the heritage is embraced and not modernised as it would ruin the genuine country pub feel. The smell of the antique furniture and floorboards along with the most amazing air diffuser in the room will stay with me for a long time to come. Have recommended this hotel to every one I know!

Friendly quick service and delicious steak meals.

The Albert Hotel at Monto is the BEST pub I've been to in a long time. It's run by the friendliest Publican and his staff. The best food. You have to try the beef cheeks. Cooked by a Chef.
This place also made lunches that were continually satisfying every day for over a week.
I can't say enough about this place. I will definitely be going back.

Great place to stay, rooms on the balcony have a small kitchen. Food was excellent, Darren has done a great job renovating the pub, next will be a lockup area for motor bikes.

I used reviews to decide to stay here. I absolutely agree with the positive views: great steak, excellently prepared - more rare than medium. Great conversations around the bar. Very comfortable room. Definitely will ride to this spot in the future.

This Hotel is an absolute gem. Accommodation is fantastic. I actually had the best nights sleep I've had in ages.
Our rooms had AC which made a good nights sleep even better. All our meals have been absolutely delicious and reasonably priced. We will definitely be back.

This hotel has all the old world charm of an iconic Queensland country pub. Our room was very well appointed and it was lovely to have our own little kitchen area in our room. Darren the manager was very helpful and the kitchen staff prepared lovely meals at a very reasonable cost. We really enjoyed our stay at this lovely old pub.

On a very hot, near 40 deg day, was a welcome relief to sit in their cool, cool dining room with an ice cold drink
